I am totaly new at this..
I have aquired softice (win2k).
Can anybody tell me what the basics are to crack/hack a program..
I have made a simple program to test on.
Any info/sites about this would be helpfull..

firstly win2k may not be the right platform to crack..Win98 Se is the best i think..and h**p://zencrack2.cjb.net h**p://beam.to/BlackB h**p://kickme.to/sirdream would be a good start for ya...

I have softice for win2k and for win9x..
And I have some software programming background..

in win2k you cant use " bpx hmemcpy" as you will see that breakpoint so much in tutorials so Win2k is not for newbie crackers in my opinion...

Thanx.. I will switch to Win98se (I have winme!!)
The assembler part is easy (i have some programming background)..
But does anyone know where I can find a list of usefull breakpoints to use when cracking programs..
I have written down all breakpoints I found in the tuts but I think there are lots more where that came from
I have checked for Windows API list on the Microshot site but I found nothing it is if microsoft want the list to be a secret

What concernes API reference, try http://win32asm.cjb.net; Downloads section. If you need the address, here it is: ftp://ftp.borland.com/pub/delphi/techpubs/delphi2/win32.zip

But I myself use MSDN, because it has information on all the functions, including API. :-)

MoreOver, this site containes the tutorials on win32asm. Maybe it will be useful to you.

I need the windows API's to find good breakpoints to use in softice..

The ftp site ZedrOn gave you IS the direct download for the win32 API reference. D/l it and check it out
