Does SoftICE 4.05 can be installed and work on WinXP?.. if i can't make driverstudio to run well on WinXp maybe the one for Win NT works?? btw thanks in advanced for any replies or possible help

Your post does not explain what the problem is that you are having and whether you search the board "here" for other posts related to "WinXP+Softice".

For example, have you set Sice not to load on start-up so that you have to use the loader to make it active? When the system starts do you have the statement on the bottom of the screen that you can press escape to stop the loading of Softice? Have you set it in the configuration to do this? You shouldn't be attempting to "start" it from the "start" menu, but with the "Loader." Did you rtfm by any chance??????

There are many things to check, because D.S. 2.7 should work.

Regards.

yes brother i see the message press Esc to abort SICE loading... this show up in case i want it to load in the boot matter... when i see the welcome messsage almost my winXP is loading then it stay there and nothing happend.."Freezed" then if i decided to run it from the shortcut of the start menu the MsDos shows up but nothing happends... then i have to reboot the system manually (reset).. i hardly want it to run..... my system is very stable and clean.. i got 320 MB of ram and a good video card.. i don't see nothing wrong on my system.. maybe a program installed is detecting SICE and freezing up my system??... i'm thinking About TWEAKXP Pro.. latest version because has many SICE checks, regm. FileMon..... but in fact i don't have it running at start up with windows... any ideas??

greetz crk

i had problems too with DS 2.7 and my WinXP on boot. however, i was able to start it up manually. so its kinda wierd ..

however, now i run DS 2.7 on 2k pro and it works absolutely fine with no problems.

i know this might not be of much help, but just thought i would state it neverthless.

best regards

Hi, Crk
I remember when i've installed DS 2.7 for the first time under XP, i Had the same Prob.

My motherboard is a VIA chipset based one, then i had installed the VIA patches like the doc said !

After a few days i found the Pb: The VIA AGP driver (included in the 4 In 1 Drivers from VIA)., OK formatted the HD , and installed XP again without the VIA AGP Driver. After that ALL Work fine !

Ah, yes an other thing, With XP SP1, there is some tips to know to make DS 2.7 breaking at entry point, if you have these prob, let me know, i'll give you some infos on this subject !

i got a PCChips motherboard.. all work fine in my system, and all program i've installed work OK on winXp.. but i'm a little confused... i think this is happening due to a system debugger detection that TweAkXP Pro latest version is doing.. i see that actually has a .sys and a .dll files that looks they handle and checks for debuggers those files are located in the system32 dir. i see something in them about killdebugger..... i think this stuff is detecting the debuggers and crashing my system some how... i'll try to make arestore point and clean all that TweakXP Pro garbage then i'll make a new installation again.. i know this driver studio should work ok.. and something is not working on my system.. anyway this WinXp is not so good as microsoft promised...this window crash for nothing means is so delicated that for nothing you can't imaging you could be formatting your hard drive. to get it back booting.. one last cuestion ..could this happend due a bad serial used? i mean maybe the keyg.... i used is not so good at all. btw thanks for replies

As far as I can tell, a bad serial will prevent DS2.7 from install, it does not sabotage its functioning.

Have you tried to follow the start-up WinXP trouble-shooter?

It may help you isolate the file: exe, sys, drv etc that dislikes the presence of Sice, and remove it from your system.

In esence you do a stepwise boot, until you get to the area that locks your computer, note it and squash it.

Am I telling you old news?
