Is it possible to crack a DX plugin with SoftIce? I'm just a humble newbie and am just starting out and am trying to crack some DX plugins made for Cakewalk. The fact that the plugins run UNDER Cake makes me wonder if SI is gonna work....I have W32Dasm as well and am diligently learning but most of the tutorials I've seen are vague to say the least. Like they're written in French and then translated to English later or something. One thing's for certain: I've never seen a tutorial that didn't get me lost. Thanx for any help!

Ahhh HAAAAAAA!!!!! I just cracked my 1st program!!!! It was one of those DX Plugins I was talking about. Actually, it's the newest one of the company's that I cracked. I used W32Dasm and got it just fine. Now I'm trying their other plugs. Their Mastering Compressor, Mastering EQ and CompressorX give me a crash when trying to disassemble the .ax file. Crashguard gives me the details (CompressorX) as such:
Windows 98 Version 4.10.1998
W32DSM89.EXE caused fault #c0000005 in W32DSM89.EXE at address 0177:004a5a73

Anyone know why W32Dasm fails on these files? If not, does anyone know how in hell's half acre to use SoftIce on these?

Those .ax files that crash open fine in HIEW and look normal. It's just WinDasm that's freakin'....
