Anyone here know much about shockwave format files?
I was looking into a shockwave game on the net the other day.. Looked somewhat packed as there were no cleartext string references.. never the less IDA and any other disassembler I tried wouldn't touch it.. and there was nothing readable inside..
Only way I can think of is to run it inside a browser and break in the shockwave player itself.. there seems to be outside url's being referenced from the file..
Its a .dir file that I have here.. and seems to play fine standalone.. haven't bothered with breaking in the player yet.

There was a thread with some posts from disavawed and some mine around 6 months ago. Then we discussed a shockwave app. I remember he mentioned a shockwave decompiler, which PERHAPS may work in your files. Give it a search.
PS: My memory failed me again. sorry

nope, if memory serves, that was flash, not shockwave.
dev9: afaik, there aren't currently any reversing tools for shockwave. if you do find any, post here and let us know!

nope.. openswf is for flash ONLY, and suddendischarge hasn't been around for quite awhile (and even if they were around, they wouldn't have any shockwave tools because none exist)

dirOpener might be along the lines of what you're looking for. I believe it handles Shockwave.

You'll might need a copy of Director for it to be useful, though...

yep, looks like you need director to open the output. i'd be interested to hear from anyone who has director and can try that tool out if it works well. great link, fcjohn!

if you want just to take a look at the
flash resources like Graphic, Movie Clip,
Buttons, Action Scripts(script language for flash files) you may use
Action Script viewer
also there is a utility to convert from projector exe file
to original swf
