It's horrid. Much preferred the older one. Yeuck.

The board was just updated to vBulletin version 3.0, and the default layout is a bit crappy. We will try to fix it as soon as possible anyway.
The new version has a bunch of new cool features though. For example, all of you people who have asked for an easier way to download the board contents as an archive, check out the "Archive" link at the bottom of this page...

Only Dissenters will be thrown out...

Wait. I thought we had agreed to shoot dissenters.

Did I sleep through the last revision of the proposed rules?
Regards.

Yup, like the new features, but don't like the new style much. I can live with it though whilst you figure out how to change it

The five buttons are (from left to right):
1. Open buddy list
2. View new posts
3. Mark all forums read
4. Log out
5 Simple search
They are comfortable, don't you think? :-D

They would be more comfortable if they looked different, rather than all the same, yes
Also, It seems like the Opera forums are running the latest version of vB too, but in those forums the "Quick message" is always enabled - you don't have to click a message button first. Anyway of doing this here to? It certainly makes it easier and faster to reply...

The reason that the quick reply isn't enabled from the start is that it would mess up the new "hybrid" and "threaded" display modes for posts. These will need to know which specific post you are replying to, to be able to display the thread tree correctly. For example, right now I'm replying directly to your post squidge, and not just to the whole thread, take a look at it in threaded/hybrid mode and you'll see what I mean.
But then again, maybe everyone prefers the good ol' way to the threaded mode anyway, and the benefits of an "even quicker quick reply" overweighs the disadvantage of messing up the thread tree structure? What does eveyone think?

Thanks, I didn't even know it could do that, but I do agree that it could be a useful feature to see which reply is to which post without having to use the "Quote the original message" method. I shall have a play

Hi all,
There are cons using web spiders like JMI said
It also rips unwanted postings like "newreply" "members" etc
And it doesn't download attachments

esther: The archive link doesn't give you the "newreply" etc, but just the raw info
