I would like to know how hard is to reverse the key generation procedure on newest version of this popular player (currently in beta stage). I'm a newbie when it comes to creating keygens. I would like to know if this is good target for someone like me.

As I already said the program name, I would not want to talk about specific code snippets etc. I would just like to know if this is not too hard for newbie. I saw somewhere in key generating function, that it uses 5 hardcoded dwords for something. Does it mean that it uses some advanced cryptographic ciphers to do key generating? Like for example RSA, or hashing function like MD5?
I'm confused, I would like to try to create my first keygen but it seems, from first look at code, that it is not best suited target for me? Am I right?

hmm...
never heard of winamp 5 before, isnt winamp 3 latest version?

however, you could use peid v0.9 for analysing your applications. within peid theres a nice crypto-analyser plugin, which may give you a hint of used crypto mechanism.

winamp 5 claims to be winamp 2 speed with winamp3 features and it looks very nice. Even at this beta stage. Can be downloaded here: hxxp://board.iexbeta.com/ibf10/?showtopic=32132.

and thanks for suggestion, PeID showed SHA. Will look for some documents on this topic.

Hi!

I guess old QCD 1.27 is a nice target for creating a key gen. It's simple and now it's even freeware, so you don't break the law. And it's my favourite cd player no less. It's from quinnware.

i think it's a easy target, you'll find registration flag less than 5 minutes

That's true but I was looking at it from keygen creating side. Try this and tell us if it's easy. I've given up, it's not good for me.

After a brief look, it appears to just be a SHA hash. Shouldn't be too difficult to keygen.
