Howdy,

This is the kind of shit I get in my email.
I usually dont post this stuff but, this person
has been persistant with his/her request yet does
not feel the need to explain why these posts should
be removed.

How would you reply to this ?

Perhaps we should "out" ccct so the entire world will know his real name and the very stupid things he has been doing to attempt to force us to remove things which HE posted HIMSELF. Maybe he DOESN'T YET KNOW WE KNOW WHO HE REALLY IS. Maybe he's just TOO STUPID to realize the trail he is leaving across the net.

Regards.

Yeah, I agree, if he wants to play hardball, go ahead.

woodmann, it is possible that he meant he wanted you to "delete" (remove) the links from the posts, not the actual files they link to

He has made it quite clear in the past....

He wants any and all references to his name removed.
All of it, links, nics, blood evidence.........

Good idea FF

I had yesterday some kind of the same contact.
But there was a small difference: the author of the mail named himself, told who he is and blah blah and asked be very polite to remove his copyrighted contents.

In your mail there is nothing which shows WHO wrote the mail (I only see From: "Cybercrime Investigation & Prevention" <cicp@linuxmail.org>
Google gives nothing about this.

I would throw this into thrash/bin

and:

Absolutely clear: forced to delete links (!) from the forum (!). And nothing else.

Hmm, at least he's being polite now. A modicum of honesty and no BS tricks for a change might be nice...

Small correction of a (maybe) misunderstanding:
The guy from the mail above and my guys are definitly not the same.

My mistake. At least your guy was aboveboard in his request, no problem there.

Howdy,

He tried the "nice way". He tried 2 different "legal" threats.
Then he just sends me that email.

I have asked him for a reason and the only one he gave
me did not seem truthful.
I have also asked for his legal representitive to contact
me and all I got was more bullshit from his "lawyer",
the lawyer didnt even sign his name.
All I asked was for a truthful answer and I got none.

I pose to all of you............

If you post something in a public forum,
what right do you have to demand it be removed ?
Oh yes, remember where the server is located.

If one "publishes" his, or her, comments in a public forum, one has no expectation of privacy and has no "ownership" rights over the comments. They are not "owned" by the author and, particularily when there is no "copyright" notice attached, they become part of the "public domain." The "author" has NO right to demand that their words later be removed from the forum, any more than they could demand that words they spoke in public not be recorded, repeated, or printed somewhere in the media.

"The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ, Moves on:
nor all your Piety nor Wit shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it."
