Hi All,
I bought one Software which can install only on one computer (Stand alone). When I tried to install on different Hardisk, not the same size with
same OS,
Same user name,
Same computer,
Same volume name,
I could not use the old authorization code.
When I use the Ghost copy, I works.
Please let me know how this software control for multiple installation on different computers.
Thanks

Probably some hardware ID (did you have to send some kind of code generated in the program before getting your authorization code?).
Also, some programs do a check on the local network for other copies with the same license, so make sure not to have both computers on the same network when installing.

and some programs do a check on the non-local network (they contact a server with some system information each time the app is run)

Howdy,
I will assume you have a ghost copy of your hard drive.
When you turn the hard drive back you are able to install
the program again ?
How does the disc know that it has already been installed ?
Why should a ghost copy make any difference ?
Try this :
Fire up some tools like regmon and filemon and watch what
the install prog does.
After you get that info, ghost back to pre-install and see
if that info is still there.
If it is still there, manually remove all entries and restart to
see if it writes back again on its own.
If the reg info is gone and you can re-install it on the same
hard drive, it has written something to the disk.

Thank you!!
(1) Where can I get the regmon and filemon for Win98.
(2) Could you explain about GetdrivetypeA, how to get which OS in both ASM and API.

Oh the shame........
Search and find. These are basic things.
Ask no more until you have done some work
to help yourself.
