Hi there,

I am currently being asked to develop a software to control a device thats connected to the USB port (the task is just activating and deactivating it at the user command).
I was wondering if anybody here has already seen something like this and could point me to some documentation.

Cheers,

Polaris

Hi

I've always liked this place, you could check out their USB Central link.

http://www.lvr.com/index.html

The developer's resource for computer interfacing, especially Ethernet and Internet communications for embedded systems, USB, parallel port, and RS-232 and RS-485 serial communications. Plus info about 8052-Basic microcontrollers and making printed-circuit boards.

My first thought was that there are most likely lots of ready-made components for ring-3 USB access functionality, and google quickly proved me right...

Here are two that seem quite good (but there are many more out there):

hxxp://www.jungo.com/wdusb_nt.html
hxxp://www.delphi-gems.com/controls.php (look for "HID Controller"

And here are some nice info pages, out of the thousands that exist:

hxxp://www.beyondlogic.org/index.htm#USB
hxxp://www.lvr.com/usb.htm

Hope it helps.

Oops, just noticed that one of my info links was the one that Kayaker submitted above. Well, I guess it comes highly recommended from both google and Kayaker then...
