OMG, what have I done?

Let's just say I didn't go searching for the job, but I'm willing to help out. I don't know what the heck a moderator is supposed to do either. Nuke lame posts with a giddy sense of power I guess. I'm open to suggestions as to what constitutes a violation of Board protocol. I wouldn't want to be accused of censorship, but I'll gladly squash blatant crack requests like a bug

In any case, thanks for the support, and I'm sure we can continue this board as an open forum on Reversing issues for Newbie and advanced Reversers alike.

Cheers,
Kayaker

Hey Kayaker,
Got a crack for Atlasti? .....
Congrats mate - If you help others as much as you've helped me in the past you'll do a damn fine job- or should I say a moderately fine job?

Oh well, we lost some posts. Still missing the originals from Esther, Kugi and Raven58, but here's my reply anyway. The only important part was asking for anybodys ideas on improving, or general comments on this forum.

Oh Man, now I feel pressured to actually try and do a good job even! ^_^

Heh, heh Scally. Gee I don't know, if I give you a crack for Atlasti it might be considered a conflict of interest. Then I'd have to delete my own post or something like that. I don't even remember what that program was, some ugly demo I think but it was kind of interesting because there were so many files involved. Actually, I just checked, thinking it might make a good project, but it's now 7.5Mb in size. Forget it.

Hi Esther, I wish I *could* get rid of that danged post size limitation, it annoys me to no end. I'd like to see PRE formatting work as well, or maybe something like on Iczelion's ASM board where you can post formatted CODE. Maybe I should RTFM on Ultraboard as +Splaj suggests and see if anything can be done (I assume not though

Thanks Kugi. Thanks Raven58. But you know, I've never felt anything I've said is any more or less than what the majority of people who post trying to help others offer. And I ALWAYS learn something myself in doing so. That's the beauty of it. You learn by helping. Other than that I'd be sitting on my ass trying to think of some other project to tackle I remember the old Sandman's forum, not from WAY back when, but from a year or two ago. I learned SO much by the posts on that board. There always seemed to be an interesting thread that you could pick something up from. Crack requests were almost non-existant, and most threads were long with a lot of input by many people. I'd like to see that again. We can all make this a great board with input, output and throughput. Doesn't mean it'll always be right, but at least there'll be some productive discussions.

One thing I want to start working on is a little link page that can be accessed from the main Newbie Forum page. I'd like to post selected links on several Reversing topics that people can use as a reference to try to answer some basic questions before posting, or use as a getting-started guide. Things like links to good ASM docs, PE file structure, SoftIce basics, info on API's, unpacking, code insertion, yadda, yadda. I've got a few particular links in mind, but I'd appreciate any and all that anybody thinks might be a good reference. I know that most of us already know where to look to find whatever it is we need, but for someone just coming into the field, there's a lot of chaff to go through to find the good stuff.

I'd like to hear any other ideas that people may have on what could improve this board.

Oh, and Raven58? Will ya quit trying to sucker me back into Lazarus' crackme, heh, heh.

Cheers,
Kayaker
