I am trying to decompiling an Armadillo 3.0a packed/encrypted exe.... and SoftIce does not pop up after loading the exe... I also check that .text is a executable section... The program is protected against soft ice and another problem is that i cannot modify executable because is protected against changes.
Someone can help me or tell me some place where i can find info?
Tnx Everybody!!!

Howdy,

You just didnt say the app is :
JCreator ver 3.00.94.

Cause if you did you have violated the rules concerning the name of the prog you are trying to defeat.
That particular program has freeware versions.

Oh the shame..............

Maybe i did an error saying the program name... but really i don't care if there is freeware version. I just wanna learn how to defeat that kind of protection. It's all. I don't need that program. I just said the name in the case some other else is trying just like me. Bye

Woodmann, dangit, is there any way to put a "USE SEARCH AND READ THE FAQ" in big bold red letters on the main page, like it used to be? C'mon PLEASE...and I mean LARGE letters (large as in delta's monitor large).

minderz: All you need to do is search the forum for armadillo and you will find endless information man!

IF sure you just want learn armadillo, download armadillo itself,
protect notepad & learn!!
this is 100% better, then some unknown program;

so now Q is: are you TrueMan!?

Ok, are those letters big and red enough for you? (they aren't of course playing in the same league as my monitor, but they will do for a start I think)

Also, we have a new and remade FAQ with completely new style and contents (thanks to ZaiRoN!), so check it out everyone!

it seems i didnt disrespect anyone of you right?. I am just a newbie... you are having fun? I just ask something in a polite way. If this is not in your style can you be more professional and tell me to piss off? Tnx.

minderz:

Try to take a step back and view the issue and the responses from "our" perspective. You appeared with a first post, not having done essentially any of the things one should do before asking a question here, i.e. you didn't really look around much, you didn't read the FAQ, you didn't search for discussion of your topic before you posted, you identified a specific target, and you didn't tell us what, if anything, you had actually done to try to solve your own problem.

Now there are already 145 threads here which discuss armadillo and by using that word and some qualifers in the search selection button you would have, undoubtedly found some very useful information, which would, at the very least, have permitted you to make a more focused question, which more closely followed our rules. There are many, many threads on anti-debugger tricks of various protection systems, again a very good topic for a search.

Now for you, this was a first post and a seemingly unfriendly response, but for us, it was just the latest in a very, very long series of "first posts" by people who didn't take any time to familiarize themselves with the way things are done here, because they simply wanted an answer to their question NOW.

So if you actually want to learn from this group, that includes "learning" how to do things in the right way on "this' Forum. That simply means taking the time to find out what those expectations are and fitting in. If you don't want to "fit in," you are always free to seek help elsewhere. However, it would be unreasonable to expect that all of the rest of us should suspend the rules and established procedures, just for your benefit.

We have no desire that you "piss off." We do desire that you "conform" in some reasonable manner to our requirements. Most of the rest that has been written in this thread was intended as an object lesson to anyone who might be tempted to repeat your errors.

As I stated in another thread, the comments were directed at the "behavior" not at an individual, and were intended to discourage similiar "behavior" from others.

Now you chose what you are going to do.

thanx a lot.
But i had the (maybe wrong) sensation that you people like to have fun on the newbies. I am also a newbie of forums. Expecially of this kind of forum. I understand that there is a lot of peolpe that need only cracks. But i'd prefere an explaination of your rules instead of the fact you assume i have bad intentions. I'm sorry for the trouble i caused. Bye
