Hi people, we have a new FAQ online (thanks ZaiRoN!), so take a look at it everyone!

http://www.woodmann.net/fravia/rce-faq.htm

Also, if anyone has missed Kayaker's announcement about this, we also have complete forum archives in easily browsable form for download now! (I always miss those announcements, they are really badly designed/implemented by vBulletin I think)

Here is a copy of Kayaker's original announcement message:

Forum Archives available for Offline Browsing

The forums archives are now available in .chm format for offline browsing. Similar in style to the "Archives" feature at the bottom of the page, with the addition of a 'Favorites' tab, print option, the usual .chm stuff.

A search index is NOT included nor are any of the attachments, but if you click on the individual thread title you can log in directly to the original thread from within the .chm browser.

I will try to update the file on occasion, if I forget, a gentle reminder or offer of the finest beer from your home Country should be enough to spur me to create a newer version.

The .chm file is 5.9Mb in size and is available here:

And yes, we will update the archive from time to time, so you needn't ask.

>PE stands for Portable Execution

portable executable

> Ida and Windasm

w32dasm

>I load a file but I am not able to see the string reference, is it possible?
>Yes, there could be some reasons:
>1. the program uses some anti-windasm tricks
>2. the program is packed
>3. the program is written in visual basic; in this case you can use a patch, ?>it lets you see the string reference (see protools for more info)

You've forgot delphi

Doesn't really W32dasm find any Delphi strings? Is there any patch for it? It was so long ago that I used W32dasm, so I can't remember. Anyone?

I fixed the other things, thanks.

OK. Fixed. Thanks. ... Whoa. Now they both point to the "what's new". Hang on. OK. This time they both seem to point to the correct place.

Hi ZaiRoN,

http://www.woodmann.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3712&highlight=delphi

Well you decide

vb show strings too
"VB5!"

Btw the faq should advise newbies to install softice with a clean OS?

Hi esther,
I can't see any 'W32dasm does not show string reference' in this thread

Hmmm, sorry but I can't understand, what do you mean exactly?

Nice to have such comments, thx.

I'm suggesting that the FAQ should put in this line on using Softice section.

Install a newly fresh window when trying using softice just to make sure other programs will not affect at background
