The one before vbulletin?

Wasn't the place called 'TShep's Domain'?

How far back do you want to go? The "original" Forum was organized and run by Fravia+. +Tsehp took over the adminstration when Fravia+ decided to shift the focus of his efforts to his "searchlore" activities, and he opened another forum there, which is still active and linked below.

As explaind in other Threads, +Tsehp decided to end his association with this Forum last year. I am unfamiliar with this place having actually been titled "Tsehp's Domain" and google has no reference to it with that name.

Somewhere on one of my HD's I have some threads from the "old" forum from before vBulletin, which show the "look and feel" of the "old" Forum, if that is the real question you were asking.

To add to JMI's comments..

The "old" one was known as +Sandman's forum, who had sort of taken it over/continued from Fravia's reign. I'm pretty sure there was someone else who hosted the archives/forum for a brief time as well (forget who stepped in) until Tsehp saved it from certain extinction. Its existence was still pretty tenous mind you until Woodmann appeared as if by magic to host it on a fast secure server, and has been our benefactor for the past few years (how time flies!). I don't think it was ever considered or titled anyones "Domain" (c'mon now, no snide comments ;-)

Fravia's/Sandman's original forum was just a single forum, no subdivisions as I remember, expanded threads in certain incarnations, AllMyWeb or something was the forum software at one time. +Sandman was around very early during the initial setup of what might be known as the present forum, he actually created the MiniProject forum at my suggestion. Sadly he pretty much disappeared after that. There were a few false starts of the present forum format as well, as servers and forum software switched and posts got lost for good.

Too bad someone didn't archive the old forums. For a long while I had many saved posts from my newbie days at Sandman's and it was always kind of fun to go back and read them. You wonder if these people gave it up or finally got a life (oops what's that say 'bout me?) Mebbe other oldtimers have different recollections, things get pretty vague now and then... (considering the +Orc/Fravia era began when, 1997 or before?, I'm only middle-aged)

Beyond the historical muse - what a strange question to ask.

omg I hate thinking about the past. It's always so sad.

I wish I could have had knowledge of this place back then. But of course, internet access still sucked yet then too.

Days gone by...................

Let me see what I can recall,

I remember the "insidetheweb" days. That place died and the board
moved to ???? disc server for a while ???
It was long ago. The bottom of this board says May 1999,
I beleive that date is incorrect.

Woodmann

I think that date may be correct.
I also think that instead of disc server, there was some kind of
messageboard script like php.

If I'm not mistaken, Fravia created a general forum and a tools forum from the start (separate insidetheweb forums), and Sandman soon after started a newbie forum (also a separate insidetheweb forum). It continued like this until the brief "turbulent period" between the original forums and the Woodmann forum I think.

Aah, the memories... The endless nights perusing every article on the original Fravia site, before even any board was created, following the little "story" that was available, in the new pages on the site and in the preambles of the new essays... Those were surely the days...

Thanks for the replies. I think I stumbled across Sandman's forum over 2 years ago, and then I did some tuts on Krobar's site, and that kept me comming back.

I guess I'm like Kayaker, "middle aged", because I remember +Sandman's old place from back in my newbie days... Fravia's forum was before my time though. Wow, has it been *that* long...?
