What version is it?

I had (actually, I think I still do), a problem with SICE not showing. It seemed that everytime I wanted to add another export of mine own, instead or on top of the default ones, the bloody thing wouldn't show up for some reason. Still don't know what causes this. Obviously a bug. Anyway, I've left SICE at default and it pops out just as it is supposed to do, except whenvever I add exports it goes nuts.

Your scream doesn't freeze. SICE is running as it should, but it doesn't show on your screen. That is why you can type in 'x' and it will exist or CTRL-D and it will exist too.

I use Ollydbg and maybe you should too. The 4.1+ version of SICE are buggy on most Win2k or WinXP systems, I'm afraid...

I've got the same problem for the first time ever as well. While waiting for my graphic card to be repaired I threw an older first generation Radeon DDR card in. The card itself works fine with updated drivers and still looks great, but Softice comes up running but with a blank screen. It will only show a display if I remove the drivers and run with a default VGA driver at *16* colors (not even 256)! Then sice looks great and everything else looks crap.

Soo.., try playing with your video settings, uninstall your graphics driver, update your driver, etc. You might get lucky, you might not, thems the breaks I guess

Hi,

I use v4.2.7. Used to have 4.05, just like you, and it worked like a charm. But then suddenly one day... lots of little blue screens of death... and I had to reformat my hdd & reinstall SICE. Maybe one day I will go back, but so far I'm pretty happy with Olly. You could try another version, but is it worth it?

Olly, olly, olly

Is it possible to use Olly to debug fullscreen DX applications?

Yes, I believe this is possible, but SICE is better at this than Olly. It is practically designed for this kind of debugging.

I've used sice for that many times in old w9x days, but now when I try to pop it up when some directx app is active, it either crash or hang the system. DS 4.3.0 build 1268, win2k sp4, radeon 7500 (set up to universal video driver). I've tried playing with "video memory size" in config but with no effects.

@L2R
run cmd.exe in fullscreen, press strg+d & tell me if it popup
(if than it's a Driver (MS) issue )

@omega_red
you are not alone buddy

problem with ati, well switch to an old RIVA TNT or GeForce
(for debugging purposes only )

(seems ATI Drivers are buggy )

I really wouldn't use non-final service packs for the operating system if I attempted to get Softice to work...
