I think I have put this in the write forum
Latest Bug bear for me is DRM WMV files
I Download a WMV file from a website (Not porn) and went to open it and Media player informs me to update my DRM. Well there is no way I am updating anything microsoft wants me to.
Went looking on the net and found a software which will remove the DRM from wma but not wmv. The problem is you still need to get a license.
Anyone with some more info, technical papers etc.
@Mike This seems to use a fair bit of encryption that why I put it here. Have you had a go at it?
Cheers

Hey peterg70:
Re-read your first sentence.

I see you have caught that problem which often attacks my typing, where your brain thinks one word and your fingers "write" another. It's good not to be alone.

Seems this is getting more popular out on the net.
Would be good to start looking at this sort of thing. Anyone who any info or links PM them to me.

I like how peterg70 first qualified his post by saying "(not porn)". Heh. That's what they all say.
Anyhoo, this page has a little primer on the topic:

Hope that helps...

A similar method of deprotecting DRM2 crypted Windows Media is available, like freeme it also requires that you have a valid license for the file you wish to unwrap so it's not what I would call a crack.
More info is at doom.org (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=89243).
P.S. Someone might like to have a go at coming up with a more generic solution based on this method as the key retrieval technique is overly complicated for the average user. MS has also apparently added antidebug code in a recent update which might provide a few hours entertainment.

From www.doom.org ("http://www.doom.org"): "After nearly 175,000 hits over 3 and a half years, I have decided that due to lack of time for updates and increasing abuse of the guestbook I will be closing down doom.org for the forseeable future..."
