Guys, I have never been good at unpacking, so I am wondering, what is the easiest packer to unpack. Currently im trying to unpack an aspacked notepad.exe. Is there anything easier out there?

Sure AsPack is good to start with.. smc is barely confusing if you're new with unpacking.

(just kidding)

I don't know.. I'm having a hard time unpacking Alexey's toys lately... and I'm not talking about getting them running now (which is a completely other story again)

Oh.. well.. UPX is a good starter I think.. It's pretty straight forward... Then you could try yourself on PE-Compact which isn't too hard either...

Good luck ;D

I agree....UPX is very straightforward

Pushad ->Popad->Dump (a "bit" simplistic, but u get the idea) ;-)

Hi,

I'd definately have to agree with ?ferret and Jimmy Clif. Upx would be the easiest. It was the very first packer I manually unpacked and I had no problems at all. No SMC, no funny screwing w/ sections, no IAT rebuilding - it's about as straightforward as it comes
