Guys, what are some good packing tutorials for the newbie? Everything I can find nowadays either is pretty poor, or is mainly for the more advanced cracker. Any help is appreciated

Sludge,

You know... you could have kept this in the thread you started

Oh well.. the only site I know offering some basic tuts is:
http://www.woodmann.net/discompress/

Then there is an Upx tutorial on the net @
http://www.mesa-sys.com/mercution/hf/tutorials/misc/upx.htm
but even this is considered "Intermediate"

Read Pe-docs (see the FAQ - references section) and well start F8'ing...
A lot is just single stepping... so F8 will become a good friend

regards,
JimmyClif

Hi,

Congrats on unpacking UPX, you've obviously got the right idea about unpacking. You can also try the mixed bag of notepad unpacking tuts by Eternal Bliss at

I will be rewriting or appending a few of those tutorials since I have progressed a bit more. 8P

Might include building a valid import table and stuff. Out maybe end of June, early July.
