win32asmcommunity is down due to hack attempt. That really sucks.

Random idiots try and hack my site all the time too. I can see why some idiots want to attack "big" commercial sites, but what's the point in attacking community sites.

Simply to prove they can. A general sense of inadequacy and the need to prove ones powers adds to the compulsion. Also the smaller servers tend to be less well protected than large commercial boards that one would assume could afford talented consultants on these issues.

I've been talking with Hiroshimator about it, and he's actually uploading the board backup to the server for restoration as we speak. He is also switching the forum software to get rid of the vulnerabilities that were used in the hack. ETA for reopening should be a few days now, so stay tuned...

I think if we can, we can take a hand to help Hiroshimator. Win32AsmCommunity is a great board and is one of my favorite site. I feel very angry with this hacker. Hacker is not a coder, and can not compare with coder in the programming area. On ExeTools, someone has suggest donating money, and why not for Woodmann and Win32asmcommunity board.

Yeah, me too, don't like phpbb too much. Luckily, the good site content out weighs it anyway in this instance.

Hope he's patched it, phpbb is insecure by default.
