I am working on an IBM Thinkpad T41 running Windows XP. The user downloaded SP2 and now receives this error when booting up:

Extended Information: Phase 0, Type 255, Code 8
Operation: Resizing Prior Partition
Partition Type: unknown
Phase: Resize Initialization
Error: INVALIDFS

Press any key to continue.

Once a key is pressed Windows loads and Rapid Restore copies files and says to reboot now or later. If you reboot now it cycles into a loop doing the same thing. You can elect to reboot later and work fine. The only reference I found on this was the following:

http://www.ibmnb.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=62926&sid=BKCEMW

however, it is in an Oriental Language, if any one can translate that for me I would really appreciate it. Otherwise, if anyone has a solution, that will work also.

What that says, roughly translated to English, is an old Confucious saying: "He who doesn't read forum FAQ or post anything even remotely on topic soon find out who JMI is".

I did read the FAQ's and even though this is not a coding question, I have found several answers to problems I have come across on this site. Did not see any other topic this question would fit under, so newbie it was.

Well, it sorta fits under "Off topic" you know. I moved it there now anyway, so no problem, I hope you find the solution to your problem.

No idea, but I have heard he's some crazy forum moderator who has real trouble managing access controls for forums and forum posts

Or better still, find the Systran program loose in the wild and have multiple languages translation available on your toolbar.
