http://www.woodmann.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5093&highlight=itunes

This thread turned up when I searched for "itunes." However, there doesn't seem to be a solution attached to it. Does anyone have any more information on this? iTunes really is a big part of my computer life, because I listen to music a lot. I could potentially switch to Winamp, but there are two problems with that: 1) I absolutely hate the UI. It's near impossible to find a song that I like in a straight list of them! (1077 songs). 2) Winamp (as far as I know) doesn't support transfers to my iPod.

So, I am in need of a solution. The solution could come in two forms: 1) Point me to two software alternatives for iTunes (one for music playing, and the other for iPod transfering.) 2) Point me to a tutorial/howto/whatever on how to...er..."fix" iTunes.

Thank you!

The Winamp Media Library (non-lite winamp versions come with it) is very easy to navigate, you choose the artist, and it lists albums, choose the album, it lists the songs. You can type whatever song title you want into the search bar at the top, and it'll list all songs matching the criteria. I believe it even supports regular expressions. ALT+L opens the media library, if you have the full package and want to test.

As for winamp->ipod transfers, theres a plugin available on www.winamp.com which allows just this. I'd take a look around at the reviews and comments before installing and using it however, as it'd suck to lose the contents of your ipod for whatever reason.

Link to the plugin is http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=138888
Link to the plugin's homepage is http://www.harrison-fisher.co.uk/mlipod/?page=home

If you want a really neat thing to organize and listen to your music check this out:

http://www.giantdisc.org/

It won't help you with your Ipod though...
