I'm in a tutorial and using SoftIce to find a serial#. I did download the program for the tut from the web. I think, I do have a newer version, but I do follow the steps I'm told. In the register window I did put as a name: Herbie and Serial#: 666111666. It show up later nicely. The registration gives a error message: Please check the following: 1. This is the 32-bit version. Be sure you are entering a 32-bit serial number. 2. Make sure you entered your registered name EXACTLY as we sent it to you........Now I know it have to be 32 bit serial#. The serials I'm finding won't work. there must be another comparsion going on what I won't see as a newbie. (lol) I need a little help with this one: Here the moves;
Call
Move EAX ,[EBP-14] (On this line I do stop)
LEA EDX, [EBP-04
CALL 0043A268
MOV EAX, [EBP-04]
CALL 00403568
TEST EAX, EAX
JZ 0043CC47
LEA EDX, [EBP-08]
MOV EAX, [EBP-0C
MOV EAX, [EAX+000001B0]
CALL 00414688
MOV EAX, [EBP-0C]
MOV ECX, [EAX=000001D0]
MOV EDX, [EBP-08]
MOV EAX, [EBP-04]
CALL 0043B898
TEST AL, AL
JZ 0043B898
That what i do see in SI. I'm told to highligt the line: MOV EAX, [EBP-04] (4th from bottom) and do a :d EDX go down 2lines to: TEST AL, AL and do a :d EDX There I do see my # and Serials numbers. Did I miss something some where? Thanks for now Herb.
