Hi All,
I have moved form win98 to winxp SP1 and have just installed Driverstudio 3.1.
I have only installed the debug part of driverstudio.
I am starting softice in boot startup. After the boot configuration screen passes I get BSOD with message

Stop: 0x0000007e (0xc0000005,0xf98b64e6,0xf9e4d4a0,0xf9e4d1a0)
SIWVID.SYS - Address f98b64e6 base at f98b4000 datestamp 3fd8b4b2

I am using universal video driver with mem set to 8Mb and am using Nvidia Gf3 video card at 800x600x32bit

I have searched forum and tried suggestions but no good.
I am a newbie so please be understanding.

You may try to download the "OSINFO.DAT" file from compuware frontline for Driver Studio 3.1

Relpace the OSINFO.DAT (around 300kb) in your C:\windows\system32\drivers\OSINFO.Dat overwriting the OSINFO.DAT(around 200kb) file present there. The new OSINFO.DAT file which you downloaded contains good information about Windows XP Service packs, which tend to dork up your applications.

I tried your suggestion but it did not work.
I have changed from boot start to manual.
When I start softice I now get this error message

SOFTICE START FAILURE
Error code 31
A device attached to system is not functioning
Please check Event Viewer for more info

What and where is 'Event Viewer'

this sounds like you have not a valid key for SoftIce...

Event Viewer:
ControlPanel -> AdministrativeTools -> EventViewer
