I'm running Windows XP Home on the NTFS format. Through my browsing experience, I have learn that running any type of crack-editing material is recommended that a 32 Bit [fat32] based os is recommended. Many uses the Windows 95 os within their tutorials. I don't have Windows 95, but I still do have my 98se. Will using 98se supply the proper base requirements for working within the 16 bit sub-system? I'm also understanding that with xp, working in dos is almost impossible, or extremely difficult, [I should say]. If 98se is acceptable, then I'm going to have to put another tower together, could anyone inform me as to the maximum ram, cpu speed and type of motherboard I can use to succeed in constructing a properly functioning system to perform this type of work?

Thank you very much for your time and any assistance that may be extended.

Howdy,

I dont have any problems with 16 bit softwares on XP.
DOS is DOS, I dont have any problems using it on this box.

You will need to run a 16 bit prog to see if there are any problems.

Woodmann...
Thank you for your reply...
The issue I keep running into is that there's something to do with the [Windows/System32/Autoexec.nt]. I'm trying to duplicate the 16 bit issue right now...when it occurrs, which it won't be long, then I'll get back to you and document the error.

Again...Thank you...

The error I received was the same as I stated above and I quote. [The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Windows applications].

I guess my next question for you is...What format are you running your XP on? I'm running the NTFS format.

Again... Thank you.

I am running NTFS.

The autoexec.nt error is common.

Try this attachment and see if it helps.
If the download is corrupt, just search for xpfix on Google.

Autoexec.nt should be in the system32 directory. If it isnt there
you can search your hardrive for it and copy it into system32 directory.

Woodmann...

Thank you for the zip, it did the trick.

I have another question... I'm new at trying to learn how to remove the cd checks in the game's .exe. I have W32dasm89 and the HIEW_v6[1].85_Full.
Are there any good tutorials that can help teach me the process? I've search all over google and haven't succeeded as of this time. I have a couple laying around in my computer, but the dudes who wrote them either needs a course in language to text skills or just needs to stop putting their so-called information out there.

Well...Thanks again for the zip and I'm hoping you can help me with this one.
