By the way. who knows who is the woman in IDA's icon?
I found some resemblance with
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tx/bell/photo/ida.htm,
but I thinks it is merely casual

IIRC, there is a thread on Datarescue board about the IDA's icon

Since the company is from Belgium, is suggests that the picture's origin might more likely be related to some history associated with that country, or Russian, for Ilfak Guilfanov.

Got it, thanks to tom324...

She is intended to be Lady Lovelace, the daughted of Lord Byron, the first programmer in the world (on Babbage computer).
Funny enough, her name is Ada (like the language, so called in her memory), not Ida, and the image in the icon is taken from Madame de Maintenon for copyright reasons...

So this time Guilfanov has not been so patriotic (she was born in London)...

Sorry naides,

I promise that next time I will read the FAQ and I will try to use the Search to answer my curiosity.

Stll I don't see the Belgian connections that dELTA suggested (just a name of beer...)
