Hi

Your caution is commendable. I did virus scan the attachment earlier today, else it would be gone already. Having had a further look at it though (under VMware heheh), I feel I should ask the author to update it with the modified source if he wants to offer it to the community. Why? Because the orginal "PUPE 2002 Suite" is distributed under the GNU General Public License.

Someone already translated the app a year ago and included the source:
http://www.woodmann.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5478

It seems only reasonable this translation follow suit and include the source to be fair to the original authors. Without getting into the various opinions about GNU, one of the things it states is:

... if you distribute copies of such a program, whether
gratis or for a fee, you must give the recipients all the rights that
you have. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the
source code. And you must show them these terms so they know their
rights.

Seem reasonable?

i did'nt make change to any source code it provides i just edited the compiled exe with a hex editor so, for me that's the source which i already posted and i didnt change anythign in ABOUT or anything where the original programmer's info is given. just the commands which were previously in spanish is now in english

all i wanted to do is to S.H.A.R.E ... if that bothers so much i'd better ask the moderator to remove the post

nick_name,

I already had the spanish version of this tool .... but somehow the *foreign* language had always kept me away from it. Thanks for the translation.

If you had spent any time around here learning the ropes, instead of developing an attitude, you would already know that Kayaker IS a Moderator. He quite "reasonably" pointed out to you two things:

1. What you posted had ALREADY been post here nearly a year ago, which means you were so anxious to make a Post you didn't search the Forums before you posted. This is something stated in our Rule in the FAQ which YOU were supposed to have read.

2. What you posted was written and distributed with a GNU license which "required" that "re-distribution" of the program attach a copy of the GNU license. YOU did not do so.

sigint33's comment was also appropriate. He was merely indicating what ANY intelligent member of this Forum might state, that playing with an exe from someone one does not know is potentially playing with danger.

If you are too immature to understand when you are being given "appropriate" advise and information, you are way too immature to be posting here. Either grow up and adjust your attitude or move out and pout somewhere else.

And just in case you don't recognize the title under MY nick, I AM also a Moderator here. This Post is intended to be both instructional and a warning that failure to adjust your "attitude" will have negative impact on your longevity here.

mr. super moderator,
what makes u think that i'll just work on something just to make a post. what we all do here is to learn and share. that's what i wanted to do. i translated the app coz firstly spanish is not something i'm comfortable with 'n secondly i thought it's easier to try somethign on my own b4 start searching, when i quite know that i can make it and what do u think, posting on UR forum will make me earn money ??

i do agree that i should have been a little more cautious about the GNU thing, but what u guys r trying to say hardly makes any sense. why would some1 do anything to make a SIMPLE post ???? as it comes to the question of my attitude and growing up, if i need a change, u guys need a chage too.

thanks .

Failure to adjust attitude noted and "remedial" re-characterization of status imposed.
