learn assembly, good place to start is http://www.win32asm.com
it's the most important part, without knowing assembly forget about reversing, let alone writing patches for programs. Next read some tutorials about reversing, read everything you can find, even the old ones they still have good ideas in them. Some sites are: tsehp.cjb.net and zencrack2.cjb.net
Once you read and learned get some tools from http://www.programmerstools.com and start working on small shareware programs. Come back to this board with any questions you have. Once you think you are pretty comfortable with reversing and the tools you can start working on the bigger and harder applications.
good luck

as long as you are willing to learn and show that you do your own work before asking we are willing to help. The more reversers the better, the more we all learn.
good luck

Well Iv read a fair bit and am still reading, Iv also got hold of a few of the programs that I'll be needing.
I wanted to get Softice running so i could throw a few things through it, to see what happens and help me understand some of the stuff im reading.
But I cant seam to get it working, how do I set it up. I'v found a few pieces of text on it but nothing that covers setup and operation?
I know its still down the road from where I am, but I find the hands on learning fits me best. Can you help?
