long, long ago (speaking of 2000-2001) I wrote a bunch of tutorials, fitting in the "Newbie project"-series. Never got to feed them online, though (well, if you bring up all your searching skills, you might find a part of it :-)

Lately, I received a few questions/mails to put them online, so here they are:

Enjoy!

Why is it that you constantly repeat "JMP is 5 bytes while Jcc is 2"? There are short and there are near ones, you know. Near is E9 xx xx xx xx while short is EB xx. Just thought I'd point out this glaring error...

@JimmyClif: lol, idd. There they (actualy, only parts of it, hence my statement) where originaly posted, but the website has been removed some time ago.

@LLXX: surely, you're right. But do not forget: this tutorial is for (complete) newbies; confusing them right at the beginning with short and near jumps would be too easy, wouldn't it? Just giving them a solid base to build on (the standard JMP's), later - with a little more expertise - they'll come into situations where those other mnemonics/opcodes are used . It's a matter of "keepin' it clean and simple", the Zen-way, sort of

Tnx for pointing it out, anyway. Just wanna clear things up :-)
