Following a tutorial for a crackme written in VB, the tut said to fire up smartcheck and open up the program. While opening it up it says 'Warning, program written in p-code' but the tut accounts for this saying thats fine. Then the tut says to run the program. However, when doing this i get the following 'error' in the code-window-dealy:

then it simply quits out saying 'an error occured'

anyone know whats going on here?

I got this problem when I switched WinMe.I dont know if you have WinMe too.Anyway I remeoved winme and loaded win98 se again

I have the same problem with WInMe. But it works fine under Win2k. The saved tracing works ok under WinME. So you can trace under W2K and study it under WinMe. No need to uninstall WinMe.

Hmm...alright, thanks for the help. But see I'm not on Win9x, im using NT for this....And pardon my newbiness, but what exactly is WinMe??

Maybe the program is anti SmartCheck and is making an illegal call to end the process. Does the program work when not loading it in SC?

hmm no i dont think thats it...yea it works not in smartcheck
but see, it doesnt run *ANY* vb programs....even crackmes that are (for newbies) intended for use with smartcheck..in fact, i was reading a tutorial that said that smartcheck was meant ot be used, and it said no problems should be encountered.
just wondering, cuz from what i hear smartcheck is very useful in understaning vb protections

Go visit his site, see if you can e-mail him or if he have a message board

What version of SC are you using and what Service Pack of NT?
Do you have VB installed?
I would try updating or reinstalling the SP on NT, use the vb6 dll from SP3 or SP4 of the VB SP, you can get those files from eternal-bliss or winfiles (required runtime files).
Numega readme files says VB SP3 is required if VB is installed.
