Hi,
when I use my PS/2 mouse under win98 with
SoftIce 4.0.5 I get some strange mouse behaviour when I break into SI. It seems to be stuck at the top and it constantly opens some popup windows.
I read in the manual that I should press ctrl-M or type set mouse off, set mouse on, but it doesnīt help :-(
Any idea what I can do ?

Btw., when I use a serial mouse everything is fine (I just want to use the PS/2 mouse because I need my serial port for other things).

Many thanks,

Mr. Smith

Hi there,
I have problems with serial mouse too ,I have solve it but changing the cmos settings
look for Internal peripheral(correct spelling? ) look for usb controllers on it
.reconfig your mouse settings see if it works

Hmm I have this problem with Sice 4.05 for NT too, but not ALL the time. Its an occasioinal thing for me which I fix by just clicking and right clicking a lot till the popup menu goes away, closing down soft-ice, and firing it up again....

I dunno you've probably tried that already, but that works for me

when softice handles the interrupt queue for the mouse, there are times when hardware packets cant be managed to be flushed - that's when ctrl+m comes to use, afaik it's supposed to 'manually' flush the queue. i find this useful, but when i had the same problem as you i couldnt get anywhere with plain ctrl+m or mouse off/on command pairs...i did actually fix the problem by setting the intellimouse option on. try it out, if you haven't already.

I know how annoying this can be - happened to me too, especially when used M$ wheelmouse, but also with other PS/2 mice. A plain old serial mouse always helped it, though.

Another solution was to run SoftIce setup again and unselect the mouse PS/2 driver - that's, use no driver. Give it a try.

i used to have this problem too, it happened when the mouse was
in motion when softice broke - i just kept my mouse really still
which was a hassle but seemed to work fine.

i recently bought one of those ps/2 converters thingies which also helped
