Hi,
Is there a way to fool the node based licensing mechanism?
I have seen them working succesfully in many softwares?
Is it so hard to beat them?
Thanks.

It would depend on the specific circumstances and implementation. You could simply change your MAC address if that's all that's used, lots of tools out there to do that. Or you could hook the appropriate APIs, or patch the calls within the exe. It really does depend on the target.

If you have a netcard chipset that allows it, changing the MAC is as simple as going to Network properties, viewing the properties for the adapter, and changing the "Network Address" setting.

If I recall a couple of years back I tried changing my mac address to match a license and didn't succeed - but that may have not been the my problem - it could have been a sevice, or daemon problem that tripped me up.

First, why do not you try to dig the licensing systems ?
Secondly, you may try to use software like SMAC to change the Mac address, and the author claim it will not reset even when you reboot the system.
Thirdly, it is a bit problem for non-engineer, you can take out the eeprom, and reprogram it (of course with a eeprom programmer).

For the last possibility, there is an article on the internet, which is quite clear.
