I believe that providing a visual clue (just like for breakpoints) to placed bookmarks could be a reasonably useful. Has the source code for the bookmarks plugin been made available?

i dont think that is possible because bookmark system is implemented as a plugin. beside why ? you can use the bookmark list view for easy navigating.
