Hello. I am witness to some very strange and frustrating Softice installation behavior. Every time that I try to install Softice, my computer completely freezes up once I press "Next" on the the screen where you choose the installed components. This behavior is true for versions 325, 400, 401, and 405! It is also true for Win98 and ME. Before my HD died, I had 405 installed, so the only thing that has changed is my HD.
Ok, I have spent many hours searching the net for even a mention of this oddity. Nothing. I installed TRW2000 to attempt to find out what is going on before the big freeze. The Installshied prog seems to be caught in a loop waiting for a callback. I am not very good at reversing yet, and I have not been able to find a way to exit this loop in a manner that the program seems to want.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.
