Well, it seems there is a way to make it work... atleast for now. Here is how I did it:

1. Install the newest version of SoftIce (I used the one from DriverStudio 2.0)
2. Get the windows2000 ntoskrnl.dbg file and translate it to a .nms file using the loader
from softice
3. In loader go to Edit -> SoftIce Initialization Settings. Go to the 'symbols' tab and add the
ntoskrnl.nms file u created
4. Run regedit and check the following keys, if one doesn't exist create it yourself
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTice\
Set the value for "Ddraw" to 1
Set the value for "DoInt2DPatch" to 1
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Siwvid\
Set the value for "Start" to 0
5. Set softice startup mode to "BOOT"
6. Naturally a nogui boot

Reboot and pray. The first time I got a bsod concerning NTice.sys but after that it seemed working. Try it out and let me know if it works. I'll fool around some more and check if it keeps working.

It didn't seem to be working when I set the softice startup mode to manual... but I'll try again newayz.

Btw, this is for Windows2000 Professional with SP1, a geforce2 MX with the 6.67 nvidia reference drivers. I'll put the .dbg file up somewhere if it's needed, just drop me a mail if u want it somewhere.

Take care,

DGR

Crap, and the answer is a nono...

It works exactly the same as the manual mode without loading the debug symbols. That is, a bit. Again, when softice doesn't pop up switching the colour depth from 16-bit to 32-bit and vice versa helps (for me anywayz). So I guess that this is the way to go for now...
