Hello all,

Since I'm growing tired of locking threads and flaming people (you might not believe it but deep down there I'm actually a peaceful kinda guy) I will try to state the rules of this board as far as I know them. If TBD disagrees with me on something he's free to change this post:

1. No cracking discussions will be tolerated. EVER! Not even crackmes are to be discussed here. There are as you surely know a couple of nice boards for that kind of stuff.

2. No talk about warez/crackz/whatever is tolerated. NONE! Don't even CONSIDER requesting cracks here!!!

3. Unpacking topics are only allowed in OllyScript-related discussions in the appropriate part of the forum. Please don't start topics like "How do I unpack packer X?". You could however write a script for unpacking X and post it here and have other people discuss it and come with suggestions/ideas. Anyway TBD and I reserve ourselves the right to close topics that are too far off track.

4. While discussing unpacking-related issues do NEVER EVER mention ANY commercial applications packed with that packer!

5. Please read the manual before posting! I remember a forum (long gone now) that had a section salled "Stupid Idiot posts" where the most outrageous idiot questions were moved. We don't have any such here so the thread will be locked/deleted.

If anyone wants the rules clarified, they are free to post the questions here.

Regards,
psyCK0

Hello,
I can say I do not need the rules explained to me! I completely understand "NO CRACKING DISCUSSIONS ALLOWED"!
My goal here is to learn, so if I'm at the wrong site please let me know. I do believe the word "Cracking" comes with a fine line and I need to know where that fine line falls!
To better understand my situation. Let me use this as an example;

Lets say you bought this car. Its because of this car you really got into driving! One day you started reading your cars' manual and find there is a place called "Options". Under Options it say 2 things,

1. To increase gas mileage from 20mpg to 300mpg, push this
button.

2. To raise horsepower from 150 to 400, push this button.

WOW what options!

Now what do you do when you go looking for those options the manual said you had only to find the buttons not there! Contact the Dealer, Automaker, call the Hotline phone number, find out they are no longer around , out of business! Gone! Even though your car is only 3 years old. So now what? You know very little about cars, but want those options, even if it means learning everything you can about automotive mechanics, you always wanted to learn but never had the time, until now.
You find this tool that might help you learn about your car and go to the website, only to find out you can't ask questions about engines and electrical circuits, but people can post their modifications to the tool that allows it to disclose information about their engine and/or electrical circuits.
Now I know my example is way outside the box here.

I have an Application that according to the manual says there are 2 options it should have, but are not there in the application.
The company that put out this application is no longer around, the forum website http that came with it is now a search engine.

I hope you guys can understand what I am saying here.
psyCKO, my email addy is wpt1114@yahoo.com
Would you email me so I can have a direct discussion with you so I don't cause the "Stupid Idiot Post" to be reinserted and/or a major flame that could cause this forum to have a melt down.

Oh yea, no kid here, Big 44 in 14 days!
Thanks cougar

Just a bit of common sense is all that's needed. If it's just about unpacking then turn a blind eye - unpacking is afterall required in order to analyze packed programs to ensure theyre not infected/backdoored etc. If its crack-related then obviously shut the thread down and point them to the rules. Too easy

the main problem is that this server is located in the USA (can't stress this enough)

so everything here falls under the DMCA and other various copy-enforcemnt *cough*bully*cough* laws. So you have to be careful. You really should use woodman's forum for topics like these, it's not in the US and they're prepared.

This particular forum is for the particularities of ollydbg after all
