Hey folks,

My sister download this .exe called EXEcryptor and put it on my computer. Now, whenever I restart windows, I get a popup that says "This software protected by UNREGISTERED version of EXEcryptor." It doesn't seem to be harmful but I want to get it the hell off my PC. It's not in Add/Remove programs. Nor can I find a related file in Program Files. I tried a windows search for "EXEcryptor" and found nothing. Any ideas as to what I can do to get it out?
Thanks

When you get that message, open task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and search for some process that looks weird to you. Kill it and if message is gone, find that exe via search function.

Or, search in registry for startup entry.

Or, download PEiD and scan whole disk for some file protected by that protector (but this is hard way).

Btw, do you know anything about protectors or you just get here by google? EXEcryptor is anti-cracking program and you have it on your computer, or some other program is protected with demo version of EXEcryptor.

I am almost sure that the last is indeed the case Haggar....

Kavuman, ask your sister what she installed on your pc. This could be any program, protected by ExEcryptor.

If she does not know, look at your program folder, and select the programs on date. Then you can see which proggie was installed recently. If that does not work, do a systemwide search for all exe files that were installed X days ago or so. And then uninstall the sucker....
