Snatch

I know there is cracked demo of v4.15.
This demo can only disassemble PE files. But it's really good.

Firstly, this is nothing more than a common warez request. Why is this tolerated when a request for, lets say, a full copy of some cd burning software is flamed?

Secondly, after already speaking to you Snatch, its clear you *really* do not need 4.15. You werent even aware that scripts and plugins were a feature of IDA ;-)
I'm sick of this 'must upgrade for no real reason ' mentality.

Do us a favour and get what I told you on IRC. Get the free version of IDA from datarescue, get spaths autoparam naming script. Its really that simple.

Well if you would like to claim I was not aware of the scripts and plugins then go right ahead because it is not true. You should read the logs of how you guys act in there sometimes. It is not clear that people in #c4n understand their own behavior. Anyway you always try to treat me like a newbie so I will act like one. People try to fit their respective "roles" as you probably already know. Anyway you are right in one respect, my "upgradeitis" is not necessary. I really would like to have automatic parameter identification though as you said there is a script to do this, I trust more the real IDA. I will inevitably buy IDA when I save enough money but for now I must resort to this. And why should IDA be discussed? It is a Tool of our Trade is it not? It is not like asking for a CD burning program that is not a Tool of our Trade. Our Trade IS cracking. Just a few thoughts.

it used to be on frog's print's site which seems to be defunct at the moment, let's hope i managed to upload it with this post. if spath has a newer version than this, i'm sure he'll let you know.

Oh, who do I treat like shit? My reply to Snatch is the first abusive (and I doubt you can even call it that) post I can recall making in a long time. And I dont have a problem with snatch personally, I attacked his actions if you care to read my post with a little more care.

On another note, FYI, I dont have a problem with warez. I can quite happily admitting to using them. I dont feel good about using them, but I use them all the same.

My problem with Snatch's post was not that he was using warez. He can have the whole of cores releases on his HD and I couldnt care less. Its the fact he's making, on a tools board, a time wasting post which could easily have been avoided. He knows how to use the web, and just about every remotely related cracking site links to protools now. I can only assume he made the post because he just couldnt be arsed searching. Well sue me, but I dont much feel like helping people like that.

Actually, I would know because I spoke to Snatch on IRC before he made the post. Like I said, it was clear he didnt know why he wanted the latest version, other than because it was more recent. The main attraction to him was the auto param naming, which Spaths script will supply, with the free version. Wheres the problem in that ?

As it happens, I know IDA pretty well, and I like it, yes. I like it because it makes my life a lot easier.
But, you accuse me of liking it because everyone else does. Forgive me if I dont see *ANY* logic in your accusation whatsoever. If you'd like to post any occasion where Ive categorically stated warez are bad, I'd be much appreciated. Theres a time and place for warez, and yes, Ive already pointed out I use them where necessary. They're also very easily locatable on the web, for anyone who spends a mere 5 minutes of their own time looking, instead of wasting 100+ readers times by requesting it somewhere else. Now this would be actually amusing if you didnt sound so serious. Tell me, where is the basis for this accusation ? Or was it, god forbid, merely another statement intended to antagonise me? The answer is No. None of the code is stolen, copied, theived etc ect. It's 100% written by myself, and myself alone. There are still bugs which exist in the pda tool I released, thats why its a "BETA". If I was even to stoop so low as to use someone elses code without crediting them, would I really choose to thieve someone elses buggy code ? ;-)

The disassembler is based on the 68k chip definition file which you can find anywhere on the net, and this is a mere text file which openly sits in the same directory as the exe. Is that plagiarism ? jesus, do me a favour.

Additionally, you're speaking to me as if I have this huge insatiable ego, and that I'll be horrified to see someone who is clearly not a fan shouting out on a forum about how bad and lousy and lame I am. When the insults fly, you tend to find out who your real friends really are.

On that note, I'll add my support to Carpathia here, since I know him personally and know that the allegations levelled at him are either complete fantasy or grossly inaccurate. I really wish this personal flaming and trolling would stop on all these messageboards, is it really necessary?.

On the subject of the original flame to Snatch, well I've just reviewed the actual IRC log and without posting the details, I think Carpathia's mild irritation (I think it fair to call it that) is probably justified.

Theres a great lesson here, and Iceman for all his posts probably said it too, "don't post on subjects you know nothing about", it doesn't further the thread or the good of the community (which is after all what this is supposed to be).
