1. installation: quote from w9x/doc/icedump6.txt

usage.

first of all, you have to run icedump.exe from the directory corresponding
to your winice version to load the dynamic VxD (it's a self-loading VxD
before you start to look for a separate *.vxd file ;-). if the VxD cannot
find winice or recognize its version, it will simply not load, no harm
will be done.

2. (real) usage: quote from file_id.diz:

Quote:

- Implemented as internal Winice/NTice
commands:

ie. you issue the icedump commands at the winice prompt, just like any regular
winice command.

Yes,
"icedump v6.0.2.2 for winice v4.05 build 526 loader
icedump was not loaded yet VXDLDR failed to load icedump"

I am using: "SoftICE 4.05 (Windows 95 / Windows 98.)

which build of 4.05? numega stopped increasing the version number for
some time now, only the build number makes the difference. the 'ver'
command should tell you what you have, then choose the appropriate
iceload.exe. if you still get the same issue, then make sure you load
kernel32 exports via winice.dat. and if this didn't help, we'll have to
do some debugging.
