hi,

I've just installed sice 4.05 on my win2k SP-1 machine. When booting, I get the usual black screen with the grey progress bar. After that, just a black screen and my monitor goes in standby mode. After a minute or so I get the the login msgbox. My question is: where is the screen with the blue progress bar and the bitmap? I notice that there is a /noguiboot in my boot.ini file, is this causing causing it? I have no idea if that swith was in there before, so was just wondering if sice setup put it there...???

Read the release notes that came with SoftICE. It mentions how the GUI must be disabled, in order to load SoftICE.

I've made a replacement of bootvid.dll in Win2K which does not cause problems with the SoftIce loading. Specifying the /noguiboot in boot.ini is not longer necessary. It can be found at www.mamaich.f2s.com with its sources. In this weekend I'll upload there a newer version of .dll which has the improved support for screen output during hibernate and blue screens.
