First of all I would like to say thanks for the direction the project area is taking. I like the supplying of hints, so we don't have to just jump in "cold".

One thing I would like explained further, is how are the bpx's chosen. I use Quick View Plus to view the exe file and then try to pick from the functions listed there - but is there another "sureshot" way. I am trying serial number targets, but have NO success due to being a very newbie.

Along this same line, I submitted a question in the tools section about adding a dll to winice.dat - but I can not get softice to accept a bpx on any function that I try to set that is listed in that dll.

Lastly, I have successfully registered Movin Pix. Is there a way to "unregister" the program in order to try some of the other approaches to learn more?

Thanks!!!

Hi InOverMyHead, I'm glad you were able to register the program, it wasn't too hard right ?
As for how to unregister the app it's quite simple, run FileMon and run the program and look around for interesting files one to look at is c:\windows\moving.ini in there you will find the RegistrationKey so just delete it's value and you are no longer registered. Another thing to keep in mind is that many programs no adays store the registration in the registry so running RegMonitor on a program is a good idea too.

Since you managed to register the program see if you can isolate the registration algorithm and extract it, that should point you towards a keygen and better understanding on how this algo works.
