Hi.
I picked up today a copy of DriverStudio 2.0.1 beta and it's giving me a hard time to install.
It only gives the option of installing VToolsD and EmbeddedNT.
Any idea why the other options don't appear? (Softice, Driverworks, etc.)
I doubt the only changes are in these two.
According to the Readme, Softice seems to have some updates:
****
Enhancements
Whistler Build 2296 support for SoftICE.
Pentium 4 (Willamette) support for SoftICE.
Add new Windows 2000 (Win2K) bugcheck strings and new driver verifier bugchecks.
With Driver Studio 2.0, your debugging ability ended at about the time the screen left high res mode. Now, you can debug to shutdown time on Win2K computers.
Added additional logging information to aid support:
Registration
Operating System
Version Number
Copyright data
Modified WX command to handle new formats for Pentium 4 processors.
***
Bug Fixes
Support for ID's > 0x400. (Specifically thread, process, object, etc.)
Fixed Packet Command.
Packet command would always fail after being given an invalid packet address.
Fixed the bug causing crashes when gina.dll's were used.
Local contexts would exceed what was expected.
SoftICE would occasionally remain partially visible after returning back to the OS.
KD Extensions were incorrectly handling context changes.
When changing contexts, we were actually setting instead of getting.
KD Extensions now accept commands with parameters.
Fixed a BSOD crashing bug when running with poolmon on
*************
I don't remember these things being in 2.0.
While on the subject, how on earth do you get the older version to uninstall?
Thanks in advance.

afaik the final of Driverstudio 2.0.1 is out but anyways...

U might need to uninstall a previous version of driverstudio/other numega products. I installed ds2.0.1 without ne probs after uninstalling ds2.0, before that it was based on my previous installation and I couldn't, for example, select to install softice (simply wasn't in the list).

Take care

Thanks for the response.
That's whay happens to me too. But how did you manage to uninstall DriverStudio?
Since version 1.0, I always had to install on top of the previous versions since none of them could uninstall itself.
I could disable its services and try and remove all the registry entries and directories but it's too messy.
Did you find an easy way to do it?

Ever thought of checking the "Control Panel -> Add/Remove software"? Does wonders...

Wish it was that easy.
It refuses to process the uninstall script. After all, even DriverStudio can't uninstall itself.
Oh well. I guess I'll have to do the hard way.
Thanks for the responses.

Hmmm, weird...

As far as I can tell I had no probs with it, believe the new installation even uninstalled the old version itself...

Take care and gewd luck ; )

Could some kind fellow RCE e-mail me a clue as to the NAME of the DL re DriverStudio2 so I can filter my search better......
and serious replies only }>

TIA

I'm seeing two copies of the same 2.01 beta at the moment. Both mispelled as in "DriveStudio".
There's also a copy of the final 2.01 (spelled properly) in some MP3 FTP but it's members only (and I'm not one).
In all cases just look for "numega".

No wonder you don't find anything.
If you look at the specs of Copernic you'll see that it mostly searches web sites with a couple of searches on files and software.
That would most likely be shareware.
What you're looking for, you won't find there.
Check the reliz engine.
