View Full Version : We're Back!

Hello Everyone:

We're finally back. To make a long story short, the server HD took a dump and then the ISP spent about a week attempting to recover some of our data off it, before giving up and installing a new HD.

They then install fairly old server software, including older versions of Apache, PHP, and MySQL than we had been running at the time of the meltdown. We decided that we wanted to update that software before we reopened the Forums and that has taken awhile, since our former set-up was done by someone else, although just recently updated by current active staff.

All of that process took some time and some tweaking and some further tweaking may be necessary in the coming days, as we sort everything out.

Some of the things which were on the server, mostly other peoples data and sites, have not all been fully restored yet. We are still actively working on that process and hope to have it finished shortly.

Fortunately, we had a downloaded copy of a full-database-backup from 01.29.07 and a seperate vBulletin back-up from 02.03.07 off the server. We had weekly and daily back-ups on the server, but had not downloaded the last copies off site, when the crash occurred. From my records, it appears the server went down on Feburary 6, 2007, so we appear to have only lost about 3-4 days worth of Posts, and there weren't that many during that time frame. We were fairly fortunate and Woodmann is looking into automatic back-up software which also automatically downloads the back-ups.

Anyway, welcome back and thanks for you patience while we finish this process. We'll have the rest of the previous materials re-uploaded to the new HD as quickly as we can.

Please report any anomalies you encounter in the operation of the Forums, so we can address them as quickly as possible.

Regards,

wtbw

I notice the username is now case sensitive. aimless does not work but Aimless does. Can't remember whether this was there in the previous incarnation or not.

Feels good to be back.

Woodmann down? It felt some of my body parts went missing. But I'm glad all my parts are OK now.

I hadn't finished uploading CrackZ site when the server had a problem again yesterday. I'll start uploading it again now, but it is only current through September, 2006. CrackZ will have to bring it up to date himself, after the upload is finished.

Just checking but is this why I can’t access www.woodmann.com/crackz/Flexlm.htm

I almost had a heart attack when such a trusted informative resource seems to be down.

Is there somewhere where i can download all of the dongle articles written for reference use? I downloaded the RCE iso but can't seem to find the tutorials and utilities on DESKey and Rainbow.

Then again I haven’t been avidly watching the site, I just check up on latest info when I have a job that needs to be released from its chains.

The upload of the materials fro CrackZ' site is still a work in progress. Upload speeds are not great, running around 40 kB/s. CrackZ had many very large files, some of them copies of CD in his archive and it takes time to get everything back in place. The Starefore folder is finishing as this is written and then there are still 4 more folders of various size and then numerous individual files to finish uploading.

It will finish, when it's finished. I can't tell you when it will be completed, but it is likely to take all of tomorrow, but I just can't be sure.

I repeat again, that the copy being uploaded is only current through the end of August 2006 and CrackZ will have to upload any additional materials which he had uploaded between then and now after this upload in completed. One of the files to be uploaded will overwrite the current 'index' file with CrackZ' original and then his "stuff" will be accessible.

The upload of CrackZ' materials is now complete. Please report any problems which you encounter. Remember that it is only complete back to September 2006 and CrackZ will have to bring it current for any later materials.

I've just upgraded the Forums to version 3.6.5 because of a reported possible security issue.

Please report any problems/issues with the new version in this Thread.

I tried doing a quick reply on another thread (from naides) and only the first halves of my posts were getting posted.

Another slight problem: After the first click of the Post button, the server appears to hang. Clicking it again and reposting the data results in the duplicate of a post, will be redirected, etc. message. Has happened twice already.

I'll edit this post with an HTTP transcript if it happens during this one.

edit: it happened.
Code:
POST /forum/newreply.php?do=postreply&t=9873 HTTP/1.0

And then it hangs after posting the data, for 30+ seconds. Second time I hit the Post button it responds:

I had similar problems. The post page hung but I checked from another browser window and the post had been posted OK, even though the original posting page was still hung. If that's clear as mud.

I don't remember the problem with the previous vbulletin version, or at least no one complained about it, so...

We're looking at various mysterious settings designed to optimize the server, maybe we can find one that might address this issue.
