Poor coders/reversers, they will never
understand business.
Quick: how do you make more money, if you
release a top of the line category killer piece
of app?
Answer: you update it as frequently as possible.
With thousands of copies warazed, DR could
never make another piece of bread, without
forcing users to upgrade.
The domain of their application is extremely limited.
How many processors can you support? how
many file formats?
Simply there will come a point were they will
just freeze it, or head to another direction:
decompilation/automatic binary analysis/emulation etc.
And they know this, so they will do everything
in their hand to delay this day, and would
thinkup many little tidbits to add to each
release and boost the version.
Just look at microsoft, how many years is it
milking windows?
DR is in an even deeper shit, their target
customers "live" in/with piracy --although
secretly, and usually choose the cheaper
alternative.
Ilfak if you are reading this, don't waste your
time maintaining the same shit you wrote ten
years ago, there is plenty of room for innovation.
Just hand it over to another coder, and comeup
with something else, less appealing to crackerdom.
I would recommend processor bench-marking
software for one, or optimizing compilers.
Look into clustering technology: a single
thread safe math library can take you of the
belgique getho.
Nuff crap, go ahead folks, shoot me.
