6. Other Information

Contents of this section

6.1 Why does my 2110 reset itself?

The symptoms are the phone will turn itself off then on again, just as if you have turned it on yourself. Accept for the fact that it doesn't ask for the PIN code.

NEW INFO : I have recently upgraded the software in my phone to V5.48. According to Nokia Australia, the 5.48 upgrades fixes the "Mad Nokia Disease" (As I call it). It also fixes some data problems and also has new improved echo cancelation. So with any luck the Mad Nokia Disease has been fixed. Without killing all the Nokia's.. :)

6.2 Cell Broadcast on 2110?

Cell Broadcast is where the network can broadcast information to all the mobiles in the area. Sometimes it's used to Broadcast the Cell ID information. It can be turned on via the menu option CELL INFO DISPLAY (option 49)

The 2110 family can only receive Cell broadcast inforamtion on channel 50. Unfortunately not all Networks transmit this information on channel 50. What's worse is that unlike some other phones, namely some Motorola's, the Nokia cannot select what channel it listens too. I'm hoping Nokia will release a software upgrade to allow selection of the channel. I still cannot get an answer from Nokia Australia as to what will be done about this. I hope to have an answer soon. In the mean time if anyone hears from their local Nokia office, please let me know.

6.3 How do I change the diversion delay?

This is really a network action rather than the phone, but I feel Nokia should have had the facility in the diversion menu to be able to change the delay on Divert On No Answer.

You have to type this at the keypad for it to work.

 Enter : **61*(desired number)*(diversion type)*(diversion delay)#

Desired Number : The number that it will divert to.
Diversion Type : This is the service that will be divered. See table.
Diversion Delay : A delay between 10 and 30 seconds the network will
ring the phone untill it diverts.

  Diversion Code	Service
  --------------------------------------------------------
	10 Divert All Tele-Services
        11 Divert Voice
	12 Divert Data
        13 Divert Fax
	14 Divert Datex-J (What's this??)
16 Divert SMS (Short Message Service)
18 Divert All Data Services Except SMS
19 Divert All Data Services Except SMS
20 Divert All Services (Everything! Data/Voice/SMS etc)
	21 Divert All Asynchronus Services
	22 Divert All Synchronus Services
        23 Divert 3.1kHz Mobiltel. Services
        24 Divert Synchronus Point-to-Point Connections
				including PADs
        25 Divert Asynchronus Point-to-Point Connections
				including PADs
        26 DivertDataPacket including PADs
        27 Divert Services with PAD-Participation
29 Divert Digital Transmission with 128kps

NOTE : Not all servies are available from all Phone Companies

Eg: If you want to divert voice calls to the number 555-6666 after 20
second waiting for the call to be answered, you enter :

        **61*5556666*11*20#

For further information contact your Network Provider.

6.4 How do I change the "KEYGUARD ACTIVE" text? (sort of)

If you are using the "Welcome Note" you can have it shown instead of the "KEYGUAGE ACTIVE" message. Heres how you do it :

1) Set a Welecome Message. See your Nokia Manual for the steps. Menu Option (9 1)

2) Turn the Phone off then On again. (Enter PIN If required) but do NOT "KEEP" or "ERASE" the welcome note.

3) When the message is shown press a number (0-9).

4) Press the "C" button.

5) Activate the keyguard by pressing MENU then * before the "KEEP"/ "ERASE" message is displayed again.

Now your message is shown instead of the ordinary keyguard message. It's a messy workaround and does realy change the text but it works.
