THE SCRIBE OF MARCUS: AN INTERVIEW WITH VICTOR NOBLE

by Adam Gorightly

The late R. Marcus Christianson aka Marcus Geist is the subject of a most fascinating book in the process of composition by Victor Noble. Geist was (and remains) the spiritual leader of what Noble refers to as "The Solarians".

As a youth, Marcus discovered his enormous potential, and helped awaken these powers at age twelve with LSD, and his first sexual experience--this with a woman many years his elder--all on the very same day! While high on the illicit substance, R. Marcus and his fellow trippers collectively reached a group-mind, evoking the spirit of what--in very basic terms--could be called a Sun God, or in the Noble/Solarian phraseology: A "MetaSun." (This state of consciousness--if I understand correctly--later became known as The Geist.)

After graduating high school at age twelve, Marcus began his self-education. He traveled extensively through Asia, and eventually found himself in India studying the secret knowledge of his Indo-European ancestors. Early on Marcus Christianson cum Geist realized that a battle of good against evil was being waged all around him, and that his spiritual lineage belonged to The Solarians, who have been at war--both spiritual and physical--with their natural born enemies, The Ophidians, down through the ages. Though the Ophidians are inferior to the Solarians in many ways--Noble points out in his treatise--the greatest tool The Ophidians possess is their power to "manipulate people, to ensnare and subjugate them by appealing to their basest instincts in insidious ways." This realization is what perhaps led Marcus to Vietnam, having willingly enlisted at age 17 to learn firsthand the spoils and glories of war. After his tour of duty, Marcus Geist returned to the States to witness the burgeoning counterculture movement, rubbing elbows and dropping acid with the likes of Kesey and the Pranksters. But on the legendary Bus Trip, he decided to get off and follow his own road of dharma. A road which eventually ended, and began again (as legend goes) in the Montana Rockies where the stormtroopers of the U.S. Government (evidently Ophidian in nature) riddled R. Marcus' physical body with bullets, in hopes that they could silence him. Later Geist's spirit body arose--much like the figurative Christ/Phoenix from the ashes--to inspire his disciples once more.

Noble has released the first three chapters of his opus in a self-published book called "R. Marcus Volume 1: The Making of an Avatar". (The three chapters are respectively titled : 1."Magic War", 2. "Wunderkind", and 3. "Blood and Vision") This volume is `now available for $7 from: Victor Noble, P.O. Box 151523, San Rafael, CA 94915.) Before diving into the interview, I'll let Victor tell you a bit about himself, in his own words:

As a young man I went through a number of spectrum-shifts between the extreme right and the extreme left. This will seem strange only to those who don't realize that the active, freewheeling extremes have more in common with each other than either one has with the complacent, brainwashed middle.

For awhile at the end of the Sixties I was a so-called Objectivist: I read everything Ayn Rand had ever written, and supported her position of total laissez-faire in all issues of politics, ethics, and epistemology. This worldview reversed itself in 1970 when I took LSD administered by hippies: I experienced ecstatic cosmic oneness, and fell for their doctrine of the siblinghood of all humans as well as assorted hominids. Gravitating naturally to the extreme, I wound up in a revolutionary group with a plan to overthrow the ruling clique and establish a communist dictatorship in the "dear old USA" within eight years. The group itself only lasted another eight months, and when the fantasy of Left revolution evaporated I looked to the Right, but could find nothing of substance beyond the stodgy John Birch Society.

By the mid-Seventies, the revolutionary vision survived only in the doctrines of religious cults. I looked into the Children of God, and found that the only noteworthy difference between them and the politicos was that they expected the overthrow of the capitalist power structure to be achieved by supernatural means. The sole reason I didn't join was that the group was incompatible with my new wife.

I wrote a book which synthesized the themes of revolutionary action and metaphysics; the brew turned out to have a strong bouquet of magic. It included a chapter speculating that Jesus pulled off the resurrection by means of a ritual in which the Apostles literally ate his body and drank his blood.

The book brought me into contact with practitioners of magic, and this led me to move to California in 1980. There I connected with the rock-magic scene, and thence with Marcus, as described in "Magic War".

Marcus and his conventicle were the ideal living synthesis of revolution and the Spirit, of visionary goals and primal realities, of Left and Right. For five years I lived in a nobler world, a mythic reality shared by several thousand other people. It was a way of life inconceivable to the zombi-nerds of the mainstream "Electrotopia". After the material-plane base of the conventicle was destroyed by the Ophidians (as described in the "Statement on Marcus Geist"), I was declared psychotic for claiming that the government had murdered my friends and burned down our houses. I was also given a "crazy pension", which could be construed as the carrot to go with the stick, and insure my silence.

Nine years later I finally decided that I could keep quiet no longer, and began writing the life story of Marcus, as he had asked me to do before his death. This is what's now unfolding as the book I've entitled "R. Marcus".

A.G. The Ophidian Cryptocracy silenced Marcus Geist in an attempt to suppress his teachings. Since you are now bringing his story forth, does this cause you to worry that your life as well may be in danger?

V.N. Yes, I worry about that a lot. Hopefully my healthy paranoia can help me evade the traps and snares. But in the long run it's dharma. As long as I'm faithfully fulfilling my spiritual duty, then whatever happens to me is dharma, and is for the good, even if it's death. And if death is not in my dharma at any given moment, then I can walk through the jaws of the dragon and come out unscathed. Further: since death is not the end, it's far better to die in your dharma than to live in violation of it.

A.G. Skeptics would say that are you creating a myth--in Marcus Geist--similar to what others have said Castaneda has done with his books on Don Juan. How would you reply to that?

V.N. If that's what I were doing, I would consider it a most worthy objective, and a monumental accomplishment if I succeeded.

"Because they were BELIEVED to be true by a critical mass of readers, the Don Juan books have produced an effect in the world that transcends the original material. In short, Castaneda has accomplished something that writers with greater skill and verisimilitude have failed to do: he has created a bona fide mythology. Another (probably more accurate) way of looking at it is that a bona fide mythology has created itself through him." -- Jim DeKorne, article titled "Bullshit as Fertilizer in the Garden of Truth", in "The Entheogen Review", Vernal Equinox 1995.

Following the above passage, he quotes Jacques Vallee: "People mistakenly believe that a myth is an untruth. But myth is not that. A myth is that which is TRUER THAN TRUTH."

"Creating itself through him" is the most important part. It's what Christians mean when they talk about "being used of God". As incarnate humans we are very limited creatures, and our "nuts & bolts" physical world is a construct of the Gods. The best strategy for those of us who wish to drastically change the world is to become the instrument of a God, i.e., of a metazon. In this way, I am an instrument of Marcus.

A.G. What exactly is a Metazon?

V.N. A Metazon is a group-soul. Whenever anyone has the mystic, sexual, and/or drug experience that "We are One", they are experiencing a Metazon. Very often the experience involves a "confusion of spheres", in which the subjects believe they have experienced the ultimate Metazon of the Universe; they will say: "Everybody's all One," or "I have seen the face of God." More experienced adepts come to understand that in reality there are many Metazons, and that there is as much conflict between them as there is between animal species in nature and between human groupings in the political sphere -- and in fact, each animal species has its own Metazon, as does each and every primary grouping of humans. Ultimately, of course, there is that solitary supreme God -- the Creator, or, more accurately, the Self of the Universe -- but the way to attain this Godself on Earth is not to forget our differences and bow down to the Ophidians in the One World Order. The operative human reality on Earth is that there are many Gods -- each nation, race, and tribe has its own Metazon arising from its collective unconscious.
Thus while he was incarnate Marcus was a neo-polytheist.

A.G. Does that imply that he's something else, now that he's discarnate?

V.N. Yes. Now he's a God. He's become the central intelligence of a new Metazon. This is exactly how the Christ Metazon got started in the last cycle. An Avatar has the capability of forming a new Metazon. He is literally a Godmaker. The Greek initiates called the process THEOPOESIS: "Godmaking".

A.G. Marcus Geist's life seems to have many parallels with that of Jesus Christ. Even their names sound similar. Apocryphal legend has it that Jesus became an Adept around the age of twelve and traveled through Asia, studying Eastern religion, much like R. Marcus. Where do the teachings of these two religious leaders come together, and where do they part company?

V.N. Leaving aside the matter of the historical character, and speaking rather of Jesus Christ as the metazon he has since evolved into in the metasphere, he is a somewhat bastardized amalgam of the Solarian and the Semitic group-souls. As a purely Solarian soul who attained the state of an Avatar, Marcus incarnated the totality of the Solarian element of Christ, extracting it from the Semitic element. As I'm sure you noticed, one of the major differences is that in his incarnation as Marcus, the Christ/Geist is a warrior-god. This element was present in the Solarian side of the schizotypal Jesus: in Greek his name was IESOUS -- i.e., Yay-Zeus. "I come not to bring peace but a sword" -- or a thunderbolt.

A.G. What is the hidden history of Jesus' life that was revealed to Marcus during his college studies in the States?

V.N. The Dead Sea Scrolls scholar whom Marcus was given an introduction to in 1961 was John Allegro. I read his book on the Scrolls in the 1970s (he also wrote The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross), and in it learned that the Scrolls reveal that the Essenes had a "Teacher of Righteousness" who lived in the century before the Gospel Jesus, and evidently prefigured him in many ways. What Allegro was "persuaded" not to reveal in the book was that the name of the Teacher of Righteousness was Jesus Christ, that he was crucified in the year 88 BC for leading a political as well as a religious rebellion -- and that he was crucified not by the Romans, but by the Jews. That's most of what I know, though I'm sure there's plenty more that I don't. But these tidbits should offer some grist for the mill.

A.G. Was Marcus familiar with the psychic Edgar Cayce, and particularly his readings on Atlantis regarding The Children of The Law of One, and The Sons of Belial? These were the two warring factions--of good vs. evil--that seem to be the antediluvian equivalent of the Solarians and their nemesis, The Ophidians.

V.N. Marcus had read all of Cayce's own writings and a lot of the "Association for Research and Enlightenment" material as part of his self-education when he was a child. His attitude toward it was that some being or beings in the Metasphere had used Cayce to weave out a myth on Earth, and like all such myths it had a lot of truth in it, but to extract the true elements you had to work your way into it and understand it on its own terms. The conflict between ultimate occult warring factions is of course a basic archetype, and can have all kinds of wildly divergent mythic images cast upon it, and still be accurate. If I may repeat myself, it's truer than truth.

A.G. In the "Statement on Marcus Geist" you mentioned the alien Grays, indicating that they are Ophidians.

V.N. Not exactly. The Ophidians are their Earthly agents.

A.G. Are the Grays then extraterrestrial? If not, then what exactly are they, and what are they accomplishing with abductions? What's your take on the UFO phenomenon as a whole?

V.N. The "Statement on Marcus Geist" speaks of ". . . metaphysical agencies that focus on Earth from certain sectors of the Cosmos by means of the Moon." The Moon is like a stargate through which these creatures from other stellar systems enter our local space.

Not all so-called "aliens" are extraterrestrial metaplasm-collectors. There are a number of metaphysical species, indigenous to this planet, some of which have, as it were, interbred with the human collective unconscious. Jacques Vallee pioneered this perspective, inspiring the "Jungian" school of Ufology, and other outgrowths. In earlier eras, people apperceived the entities as elves, fairies, angels, etc. Around the turn of the 20th century there was a whole wave of sightings of "phantom airships", including contact with the occupants. The present culture, oriented to technology, science fiction, and an astronomical cosmology, experiences the entities as space aliens who come in starships and perform scientific procedures on those whom they contact. The point is that the creatures take forms conditioned by human concepts, expectations, and imagery. Nevertheless, the core of their being is exterior to the human metasphere, and at least partially autonomous from it.

There is a high degree of correlation between an abductee who was taken on board a space ship and had something sexual done to her/him, and a person who in premodern times was abducted to Fairyland and experienced something almost identical, but with very different imagery. And it's all exquisitely real, as either abductee would strenuously assert. It just falls completely outside the bounds of scientific or common-sense understanding.

An interesting aspect of the abductee subculture is that it's evolving into a kind of techno-shamanism. Here are all these perfectly normal middle-class postmoderns who have regular interaction with nonphysical beings (or perhaps I should say: with beings of questionable physicality), who attribute their mental/emotional and physical problems to "implants", and who have developed an elaborate methodology for "removing" said implants. To have one's implants removed is to attain a wonderful, liberating state of health and well-being. Some who master the techniques claim that ALL human ills are due to implants. I suggest that we are dealing with an extremely old constellation of mythic elements, spanning pre-civilized cultures to medievalism -- all recast in a marvelously new technology-inspired matrix.

What we see here is technological culture finally beginning to cast off its materialistic perspective. The process actually progressed much further in the Earth Colonies, which were the harbingers of a true primal civilization.

A.G. Have you ever seen a UFO?

V.N. Not exactly. I've ridden in a psychic starship, namely the one built by the Solarian Sodality during our apotheosis at the festspiel in the summer of '83. We went on a tour of time and space, visited some aliens on their home planets, and witnessed the Big Bang.

A.G. You say Marcus had connections with a lot of prominent people. Was he at all connected with Ira Einhorn and his circle of Aquarian Conspirators?

V.N. Marcus met Einhorn once, and commented that he was a quintessential Ophidian counterculture-maker, one of the intitiators of the phenomenon, just like Bob Dylan, Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, etc. Marcus described Ira as a brilliant intellect and an advanced being, but with the characteristic Ophidian warp. His ideas, activities, and operations totally absorbed him, to the detriment of what we might call his human element. Marcus speculated that he would be capable of very bizarre and perverse actions. . . an observation that was vindicated when it was found that he had lived for two years with the corpse of his murdered girlfriend in a trunk in his closet.

A.G. Marcus benefited positively from his use of LSD. Did he feel overall that LSD was a catalyst for positive change?

V.N. It's a powerful catalyst for positive change and for negative change, and for all kinds of change in between. Marcus' critique of the Sixties-era counterculture is that the massive collective change largely stimulated by LSD was being misdirected by the Ophidian imprints laid upon it, by people like those I just mentioned. In the ritual use of LSD at the Earth Colonies, the imprints people received were of a totally different nature.

A.G. What were the imprints that the group received?

V.N. Soma is a meta-physiological psychoactive substance specifically compatible with the Solarian psyche. (Note the context of words: the traditional 3-part division of man ((for woman it's slightly different)) into nous or pneuma = spirit, psyche = soul, and soma = body.) The Gods first gave our ancestors soma in the transition from the Golden to the Silver Age to compensate for the lost quantum of primal energy. It has reappeared at key intervals in various forms down through the ages; most of the episodes are not recorded in the crude informational media we have today.

The present epoch is the very end of the Kali Yuga or Iron Age, in which primality and higher knowledge are in danger of dying out altogether. To prevent this, the Gods caused the reintroduction of soma into the material world. Of course it would have to be in synthetic form, since everything in this corrupted culture is artificial. Thus there is LSD-25. Such pathetic creatures are we today that we need massive doses of acid to get a taste of the state of being that our Golden Age ancestors had naturally, just by waking up in the morning.

When large numbers of open-minded young Solarians began taking soma together in the 1960s, a natural, intrinsic effect was that they began to recover a sense of their primal bond and collective identity. This effect was totally organic; it happened spontaneously, given the mix of substance, circumstance, and people -- which of course had been arranged by the Gods -- by destiny, you might say. Then of course the job of the Ophidians was to thwart this God-given destiny. Their influence totally dominated the counterculture, and deflected it from its inherent course. So it was that the hippie communes were almost completely white, yet they denied this obvious value, and engaged in an ongoing futile attempt to bring in more people of other races. They were also about 80% Solarian, as a very general overall estimate. Keeping in mind that the actual number of Ophidians varied widely from group to group, 20% is a relatively high proportion, and it enabled them to dominate most situations, especially since the larger counterculture was so Ophidianized. (Outside the Earth Colonies themselves, a notable exception to this whole configuration was the Manson clan.)

I felt that this explanation was necessary to clarify that the acid imprinting which people experienced at the Earth Colonies was not some kind of arbitrary mind control process. It was completely natural and organic; the biggest de facto element was the removal of the Ophidian influence. Just imagine the Sixties phenomenon without the Ophidians, and you'll have an idea of what happened at the Earth Colonies.

A.G. Did these imprints come directly from Marcus?

V.N. The foregoing should clarify that Marcus FACILITATED the imprints. He removed blockages and obstacles which prevented people from seeing what was already there. If you've ever had a high-meta LSD experience yourself, you know that this process is inherent in the drug. A good acid guide doesn't impose the imprints (as in "laying a trip" on someone) -- he facilitates them. He just helps the chrysalid to open -- he doesn't try to shape the imago.

Now the whole point is that if all the people who do LSD in a community situation are Solarians, then what will emerge is a Solarian group-soul, or Geist. In the outside counterculture, this spiritual entity would attempt to emerge, and the Ophidians would be there to lay a trip on the individuals -- they would tell them ridiculous things, like that their parents were the enemy. At the Earth Colonies, Marcus and the Pantheon could simply show them the real underlying truth -- which in this case is that the Ophidians are the enemy.
