Researchers crack 802.1x
Not really the biggest news if you think about it. WiFi shouldn't be thought of secure if it's made to be cheap enough for everyone to get their hands on it. If you put 802.11 everywhere, it will just give hackers a bigger arena for all their pranks. Free wireless is cool as a concept. I would like to surf the internet from my car. On the other hand, I don't want to see what happens to society when everyone is at my birthday event on a laptop. Read more here.

Funny thing
I was just reading my bugtraq mail and maybe I was playing around with ARP poisoning too much the last couple of days because this mail pointed to this advisory about ettercap. Check it out here.

Cracking system for Windows Product Activation?
A cracking system for Windows Product Activation was made public this week. It seems that the keys are really close to Microsofts original keys that it is hard to tell them appart. I just think it's really funny because of the whole Microsoft .NET idea. Heh, we are going to have so much fun with that weak security. More here

FBI says they are monitors Web vulnerabilities
The FBI is monitoring "potential vulnerabilities" in computer networks that could leave portions of the Internet open to disruption by hackers, the agency said on Tuesday.

Now for all the web flaws and computer vulnerabilities, don't you think the FBI is pretty much saying that it's watching paint dry. It's time for software designers to stop releasing software littered with bugs. We are not evolving into super humans that can hack better and better. Software is getting worse. Why is the FBI interested in software that is vulnerable? If I make a gun without a saftey switch, should the FBI monitor how that affects society or come after the gun maker? Dumb as paint, really dumb paint! More Here.

Microsoft, You Rock!
Visual Studio.Net comprises new versions of the company's software development tools, including Visual Basic, Visual C++ and its new Java-like language, C#.

I hate to bitch but...
Well it's not really bitching because I do that enough already. I just was noticing that Valentines Day is coming up tomorrow and even though I wouldn't have had a date for it because my ex-girlfried moved, but I don't even have a friend in her either. I really wish we could have stayed friends over this holiday since she means the world to me. I also have some friends who experienced love lost and lost loves. I am thinking about everyone out there for this depressing holiday, and I am really thinking about all Tromettes when I feel like masturbating.

Playing with software...
I was just playing with ettercap-0.6.3.1 and I do have to say for where my computing arena is this is good software. I constantly work in a switched network and and most 'traffic sniffers' won't work. The only thing I didn't like about the software was the screen size I had to set my term to. Wansn't that much to complain about though. Source code is here.

UPDATE: I did find more info about this program and the website is located at http://ettercap.sourceforge.net/

I am getting pissed
It is really unfortunate everytime the FBI announces there is a threat about another terrorist attack, it seems they just forget about it. It fades away. Why isn't the military warning us about something, how come it's always the FBI. We can't find the terorist leaders or the WSJ Reporter? This is just really upsetting.

Friday Night fun
So last night El_Jefe, Banshee, Boogah, Spun0ut, Skroo, Jimmy, Aron, Kim, Tibbie and myself all went to the Troma LA Screening of Citizen Toxie: Toxic Avenger 4. It started with a pub crawl from Saddle Ranch on Sunset Blvd. We went to the first pub then Troma recieved problems from the second and third pubs. We ended up at the Last pub and it was very fun. We hung with Lloyd Kaufman the director, Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD, and Toxic Avenger. We went to the movie about 12 midnight and it was good. We then were invited to an afterhours party at the LA Troma Headquarters. Too bad I didn't have the camera there. The night wrapped up about 5:00 am. Pictures can be found at http://tommEE.net/toxie4.

From the 'I just found this' file
I was sitting at work and I was AIMed an URL. It turned out to be a picture from H2K a couple of years ago but it got a chuckle out of some of us. I didn't even think there were any pictures from H2K of me, I didn't stay there much.
