22,000 more people going to shop at Kmart...
Yep thats right Kmart is laying off 22,000 workers. More workers going to look for sensible clothing. Oh wait, the Kmarts are closing as well. I know like 14 of them are closing in California. It looks like the 2 in New York City are going to stay open. Well I think the people of New York are going to need the Kmarts more that some of the people here but there goes my job at Target. Now I will have to compete with 22,000 Kmart workers. They are a little more experience in retail than me. More located here

You gotta love Microsoft!
I was reading the SoCal mailing list and Spun0ut posted the newest of my favorite bugs to come out of the belly of Microsoft. What this exploits is just the fact that the browser will execute scripts that are named.img and take control of the computer. I tried to get it working on other platforms but so far I have only seen it work on XP and 2000 server. Try it yourself, it is located at http://moloch.org/xp_rules.jpg

Playstation broadband adapter announced
The Sega had one come out for it. The Xbox is ready for it. What about the playstation. Although the PlayStation 2 does not have built-in network capabilities, it does contain other high-speed expansion ports. The company said it would begin selling a network adapter for $39.99 in August. More available here

17-year-old girl writes virus and takes a stand
A hacker claiming to be a 17 year old girl said she wrote the newest virus against Microsoft's .Net service. She said that the virus was making a stand for sexism and proof of concept that a 17 year girl could write virus as well as anyone. I really appreciate someone taking a stand like this. I didn't see anyone taking a stand for the Melissa virus. That just made me mad at my Windows users. Read more here

Real Networks Turbo Play
The Register has built a new version of thier player for the gold pass users named turbo play. It's suppossed to launch streams up to 800% faster. Instead of playing a 150K stream at 150K, it would buffer all available data at the network pipe speed and play it more locally. I like the idea of Real making any advances but I really wish they would make it like a $20 download for the software than having to belong to a Real subscription service because a) I use linux and b) I alreasdy have cable. I noticed on moloch.org that you were unsure about @LANta.con 2002. I have been interested in it for a while as I now live in Atlanta and it would have been my first official Con. I also wanted to help set it up, so... I called Dustin Schwacke, the contact for the atlantacon.com domain, today to ask about it. The person who answered said that Dustin was not there, so I asked him about AtlantacCon. He said that they were not holding it this year. I'm bummed, but hopefully next year! Should we start pro-moloch?
I was sick from work yesterday doing a lot of internet browsing and I went to imdb.com. The funny thing I saw was imdb has started pro-imdb. Along with that is pro-blogger, pro-lycos and even google has a pro service. We are starting to pay for things that we didn't have to before. One of the things that I encountered was classmates.com, I have an account there, one that I paid for a while ago. It's not making me pay more if I want to send email to a classmate. This is getting stupid. We haven't started pro-moloch. Maybe we should. We will setup a new site with more bitching, beer drinking, falling down and computer stuff. Who's in?

Atlantacon? I thought it was March?!?!
Well folks, I have been checking the Atlantacon website and I have been hoping for a chance to see my southern friends. The bad news is that they haven't updated their website for a long time, there probably not going to be as many people going as possible. I love the people in the SE2600 scene, and I have great times hanging out with them. The problem is that I don't even know what panels are going on. The con was scheduled for March 29th and that is only 3 weeks away. Sorry guys, the Moloch people probably won't be able to make it. See everyone at H2K2 or the best con DefCon 10
