Product Review: MiniView™ Micro KVM Switch (IOGEAR)
I saw this device in Tiger Warehouse's catalog that they send out once a month and Tiger is know for featuring wierd devices that only work in certain scenerios but this was good. It's a KVM switch that uses no external power source. The cables are part of the KVM. It controls two computers with a hot key operation and supports up to 1920 x 1440. I purchased one at Fry's for only $50 and I love it. I am thinking about buying another one. I have had no problems with it and it powers my ps2 powered devices as well. I really recommend this device. See the page

Microsoft Insider Live?
If you didn't hear during the last couple of months TechTV had yet made another attempt to sell out even further. They added a show called Microsoft Insider Live. I didn't even plan on watching it but I do get up pretty early to code on Saturdays and I enjoy the TV in the background. I am from NYC so I enjoy the noise in the background. I noticed the show coming on and a started sitting though it. It starred Jack Gallagher and Daphne Brogdon. Daphne Brogdon is known from CNET network's previous shows and I do feel bad for her now if this is what she had to sick down to. Basically the show ends up to be a 30 minute long brain washing demo of Microsoft products. The comercials during the show? Well of course, Microsoft .NET commercials. The show hyped the Pocket PC mobile communicator, some photo editor, Age of Mythology and Microsoft's wireless hardware. I am not trying to be funny by saying this was one of the worst shows I have seen in a long time. Tech TV mast have had received a bag full of cash for Microsoft to aquire an hour and put it on TV. I don't know what else to say but complain to Tech TV to sell herbalife instead of selling Microsoft. It is bad enough that all the video on Tech TV's website is in Microsoft Media. Bleh
PPV Cable Modem?
It could happen but when and what companies? The cable companies are noticing people like me and others out there who are just making the most out of thier bandwidth. They would like to capitalize on that. Thet have started thinking of a tier system where 1.5MB bandwidth would run about $100 with 768KB less. There is an article
here on tech live about it.
Secret Service Gets Into War Driving
Blurb from TechTV Tech Live:
Agents in cars are cruising the streets of the Capital with Wi-Fi equipped laptops, looking for unsecured wireless networks. The reason: The FBI has raised concerns that the large number of open wireless nodes around the country could help cyberterrorists launch attacks. But so far, the Secret Service says it has found no problems in Washington.
First off, Cyber Terrorists? ha!, hype. Second, no proplems? Double ha...
toorcon 2k2 and other things
To say the least, I had a blast at toorcon this year. Jay Dyson gave a good talk on why cyberterrorism is a mythical idea. I gave my TiVo talk, from what I saw, it was well received. Dan Kaminsky did a good talk that he also did at defcon this year but he informed us about a linux distro that ran off of the CD. Knoppix is one if the coolest things that I have seen in a while. I found it at
