Where is tommEE pickles?I was watching my pal Patrick Norton on The Screensavers on Tech TV today and a question came in. A user wanted to know about adding drives to their TiVo. Patrick Norton suprised me with the quote "Where is tommEE pickles when I need him now". It was pretty funny. Unfortunate TechTV's domain isn't working right now so my email bounce but hopefully I will get to help those Screensavers soon. Check out
the call.
Very cool program... if you use WindowsI stumbled apon this program to speed up Windows. Well it really speeds up Windows launch. The way it does this is delaying the time that Windows will launch startup files. It has a display at the bottom that reads like a defragment display. The reasoning is that if Windows launches 20 files at the same time, it slows the computer, if it launches them one after another, it will lauch faster. The best part, it's freeware and not spyware or adware. Check out the program

Good morning, here is a new lawsuit
RadioIO, a webcasting station got a surprise package this week. It was a package containing the patents they were violating with transmitting audio and video orver the net. Michael Roe, proprietor of RadioIO Webcasting station, just finished a legal battle over copyright fees for the music his station plays. The company filing for the patent violation only wanted three-quarters of a percent of his revenue. Now this is getting silly. It seems like when you try to make money on the net, some dot-com business wants a piece. Now .075% is really small but what if you didn't realize that you were doing something that was similar to someone else. I think it should shouldn't go straight to a revenue dispute. This is what damages the e-business. Read more

Complaints?
Well I was going to moan about the TiVo segment I saw today. Instead I would rather give you something helpful. It's not useful to you readers when I complain. I have been updating
tommEE.net with new information. I have to fufill that dream of becoming a superstar. Regardless, there is info and my panel, of the TiVo project that I have been persuing. There in info there for drive upgrades and network access along with backdoors in the system. If you put your TiVo on the net and run the sniffer in front of it, you can find some nifty info that TiVo is enummerating on you.
Computer hacker? National Security?
Well the info really isn't out yet but last night a Korean national was taken into custody in Santa Monica, California last night. A warrant was served at his home and boxes of evidence and his computer equipment was taken. The FBI is only stating that this is matter of national security. This was also stated last night that it was not in relation to terrorism. More updates are supposed to be released from the FBI later today.
Key3Media Group bankrupt!
Yes they are looking like it's bad. The Key3Media Group are the people who throw so many conventions in the tech industry. For an example they are the ones you do Comdex! Now they did state that they would be doing the November Comdex in Las Vegas but they probably wont be throwing on internetworld or mac conventions. Its to say that the dot-com dying hasn't finished. It's still tossing around in the hospice.
TV can kill you!
About 80,000 large-screen, analog Zenith Electronics Corp. televisions are being recalled. The reason, they are a fire hazzard. A tear in a gasket can cause coolant fluid to leak from the picture tube, possibly causing smoking, charring and electrical arcing inside the television. TV's that are part of the recall of the large-screen projection television sets were manufactured between 1995 and 1998.

Russ Cooper of TruSecure Corp Slams Microsoft
Russ Cooper said "I gave it a 'D-minus' at the beginning of the year, and now I'd give it an 'F." This comes from the nightmare of the SQL Slammer worm. It's not like we could argue his statement when Microsoft did afterall state that February of 2002, that they were going to take a new approach to security vulnerabilities. I wonder what he thinks about Microsoft's Palladium?

Is it better to live in Kentucky?
Well it just might be. People in Glasgow, Kentucky pay $19 a month for 70 cable channels, and for an additional $25 they can get blazing fast Internet access. Why is it so cheap? It's a Government owned electric company that runs the data over the same cables that service power. Also the city-owned buy their cable programming from a cooperative in Kansas and connect to the Internet by leasing facilities from big data carriers -- don't have to be rivals of telecom companies.
