Novell trying go get back in the fight?
Novell is releasing free new networking software aimed at small businesses. The software is called the Novell Small Business Suite Starter Pack. They are betting that this will be a win for the company since the smaller businesses are not likely to go to an IBM or Oracle due to the large infrastructure products that they deal in. The software will be available as a free bundled addition with applications from third-party developers, who are also receiving the product for free. All I can think is, I remember Novell, until I started using Linux. Read the press story here.

Samsung Electronics ITCAM-7 Preview
I did get to see this at CES and now it is getting more press now that it is close to release. It's the Samsung ITCAM DV cam. It's the first cam to use a disc instread of a tape. It will also act as a hard drive, image viewer and mp3 player. It will capture 1 hour of MPEG-4 video in SHQ mode has USB capability. Now if you were going to do DV, you would want firewire but this is doing all the work inside the camera for compression, so USB 2.0 is a logical decision. You can see some stats on the ITCAM-7 here.

Ok this will sound wierd
I have been known to watch a TV show called Ed. I TiVo is and watch it when I can. The show is like a romantic comedy but it's the only one that I watch. They had an episode about the main character reading about lucid dreaming. Being able to control your dreams and every aspect of them. Well from sitcom to news to technology, there is a place. Featured on TechTV, The Lucidity Institute INC. They have lectures, books, tools and a whole bunch of ways to get money from you. If it works, let me know, I would like to get something to kep me in bed more than I should be in it. The Lucidity Institute can be found here.

Remember that Silly HP Media Center?
TiVo releases the Home Media Option software will let the TiVo boxes access and distribute content such as music files or digital photos stored on the hard drives of Apple Computer's Macs or on Windows PCs, streaming them to a television set or stereo via wired or wireless home networks. The $99 upgrade, available from TiVo's Web site, will also accommodate online scheduling, allowing Series2 owners to set their machines to record programs via the site. This was supposed to be an option yeas ago but they are only currently offering it to series 2 TiVo customers. Cnet story here, TiVo site here.

I wish I could have been there...
Apple Computer has announced a trio of revised editing and production titles as the company tries to further its campaign into the professional movie-making software market. Appearing Sunday at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas, Apple unveiled Final Cut Pro 4, its high-end video-editing software; DVD Studio Pro 2, its high-end product for creating menus, chapter titles and other DVD features; and Shake 3, which adds visual effects. I have used lots and lots of video editing and producing software but I know I want to have an Apple. Final cut Pro is probably one of the best programs I have seen in a long time. I am wondering what it looks like now. I have seen the Magic Bullet plug-ins before too and they add so much to this stable program. See final cut pro here.
