I find all of the topic-posting in Food Glorious Food pretty amusing. It's obvious that some people are hoping that I'll mistake quantity for quality when I get around to picking a moderator.

Moderator selection is a semi-random process. Being active helps, being knowledgeable is better, being lucky is best. (I've been known to flip a coin when picking people, or draw names out of a pile.)

Anyhow, I'm planning on leaving that forum moderator-less for at least a week, probably longer.

Well I promise not to post shit. I mean sure I have created alot of threads. But I think they are worthy. I like to see what people have to say to my threads.

I could do the job. I'm on totse a whole lot probably atleast 2-3 hours on weekdays and 4-5 on weekends. I'd say im pretty knowledgable in the subject, I think i would be a pretty good moderator.

For the food forum, i think the following would be a good way to pick the mod... Get everyone that wants to be a mod to send root something... like a cake or cookies, bread, i dunno... anything that could be mailed to him without goiing bad. Everyone would have to send the same thing though. Anyways, whoever has the best {fill in the blank} gets to be mod. What do you think?

im just wondering why everyone wants to be a mod. the only advantage is that you get moderator under your name. and no one cares about that anyway.

I mean, what are you going to do? Are you going to give away precious family recipes, or just be a food critic? Or will you tell "all-time best food jokes"?

I am guessing that a person that wants to be "FOOD MODERATOR" or whatever just really wants to be moderator, but however they can get in, they will.

hey, now, VictoriaTheGreat, I actually really enjoy talking about food! I have enjoyed the past few days joking about food, sharing my 'favorites" and what nots, giving a few recipes out, and getting a few recipes in return.

But it needs a mod because there have been many posts that do not pertain to food at all. In fact, the people posting these messages have outright said they are just posting because it doesn't have a mod.

There are only two forums with no mod. FGF, and of course, Bitch&Moan.

BM doesn't really need a moderator because everyone is posting in there under the assumption that it could be a crap post and noone cares. Now if someone does flood the forum, Root and J.C. are alerted, and they have the authority to close those threads themselves. This happens, although not as frequently as you would assume, and so it does not needa mod. Plus, Modding BM would be touch on morale for anyone... it's a pretty nasty area, and flames are frequent. It's the fully free speach area, "hardly any" restrictions. go, check it out for yourself!

Now, FGF on the other hand, has a purpose. that purpose is to just talk about food. Not bitch, moan, talk about drugs, animation, your dirty sock, or what bombs you want to build. It's about food. It has already shown a need for being modded.

Now, as an enjoyer of food and someone who enjoys to talk about food in a setting such as FGF I would not be annoyed or 'offended' in the least to say a respectible person modded. there are a few people, who do not post relevant or thoughtful material, that would cause me to be hesitant to continue to frquent this forum.

As of recently, this has been my most frequented forum. i like it's content on the whole.

Well to be mod all you really need is a bit of knowledge, common sense and to keep the forum alive, generate interesting topics and generate ideas within the forum..No big deal. Also if someone posts something not appropiate, move to the right forum or take measurement within means to correct it.

I seem to have a problem. I went to sign in as usual yesterday and my nick said wrong password..So for now I have reverted back to tsunami. I would like to know if at all possible to either fix stormybaka or switch my moderator status onto my tsunami nick.

Well I guess I will express an interest in being FGF mod. I am a mature person and have 9-10 years exp as a chef..

I think I should be the mod. Why? I have eaten a greater variety of things than most americans. Months of living in front of my computer have taught me just how low you can stoop in terms of munchies. I know of good food, bad food, and I also know alot aobut the chemistry of food and how good a certian food is for you. I am one of those individuals who eats whatever he wants (or in my case finds) and still keeps a reasonable weight with little or no exercise, so I have nothing to lose on "reasearch". I will point people in the right direction about what they stuff in their faces, about diabetes and overweightness, and I will sacrifice myself to research such as "which color of M&M tastes better?".

This is why you must make me a food mod.

And, if we did nuke china, imagine how much extra food there would be!

I would like to be the moderator for the FGF section, but I am not going to suck up to you.

I agree, I know a mod will be chosen soon but regardless of who it is, they will have their work cut out for them for a couple days. FGF is filled with alot of junk and untill it gets a mod it will be the prime example of why we have moderators. I have tried to post a topic or two which went largely ignored in favor of total crap. The place must be cleansed, and were talking industrial strength cleaner here.

The perfect reason why I should be the mod.... I love to debunk bullshit like those Mcdonalds stories about shit in the burgers or whatever. I also am willing to post new topics to keep the forum alive, and delete useless topics, move posts, ect....

all i can ask is that you choose someone who can ACTUALLY cook (several have said they are chefs), and check their posts and make sure they didn't list chili's or outback or some similar crappy chain as their favorite restaurant.

I do have to agree with pig, its the same(no offence to anyone) with what initially happened with the radio forum. I dont to be honest think there is any need for a food forum, I think anyone who says they want to mod it is purely for mod status and I think within a day of someone being elected the forum will dry up.

Then we don't need a mod.

Being a moderator sounds like to much work and you get flamed and morons try posting personal information about you. So I dont wont to be a mod but can someone make me an administrator?
